Monday night's BBC Panorama detailed the wrong doings at Notts County over the last couple of years. Essentially an eloraberate fraud saw the club go into Administration with debts of over ã7m. Turning to Watford and other clubs like us, it is essential that all authorities are informed of the identities of all interested parties, and that there are no "hidden benefactors". The Fit and Proper Person's test must be comprehensive and cannot be fooled into thinking everything is ok when it is not. The wheels started to come off the Notts County bandwagon when the milk bill went unpaid, small beer eh?
Interesting Elixir, but is there not an issue about Leeds and their ownership. My impression was that if they gained promotion the ownership would have to be disclosed, saying that the FL is not so careful about it as the PL. I didn't realise the program was on or I would have watched it.
I wanted to see this programme and missed it. A job for the iPlayer. From what I read of this programme Terry Venables did a similar thing at Pompey, buy the club for ã1 and stitch it up. The cry "There for the grace of God go I" has featured in Nests over the lifetime but I am worried about our present owner, he is seemingly so reticent about talking he could be worse than George Petchey. Fit and proper, tosh. Are you fit? No. Are you proper? No, Alright you'll be perfect.
I think I can muster the strength to wish Leeds well. QPR are promoted, and I've long wanted Norwich to go up. Don't want Swansea, Cardiff, Forest and Millwall to do it for reasonably obvious reasons. If Reading get promoted, Nick Hammond will undoubtedly get a bonus and a pay rise. By comparison, all Leeds are guilty of is bankrupting their suppliers, giving Father Christmas employment for the other 11 months of the year, and having the most arrogant supporters in the Football League.
We're arrogant for good reason. Anyway, the ownership of Leeds goes like this: LUFC is owned by Leeds City Holdings. Leeds City Holdings is owned by a combination of A) four shareholders and B) three trusts. All we'd likely find out if Leeds were promoted to the Premiership would be a list of businessmen you've never heard of who play some part in Leeds City Holdings and those trusts. Trust me, Ken Bates would have his tracks covered if he had some involvement in the ownership hierarchy. The bastard.
I do bigoted guy that tends to screw over football clubs , certainly wouldnt want him at the Vic! on a par with Mr B
Mr B, if the picture on Rookery Mike's blog is anything to go by, is the love-child of Don Estelle (Lofty from It Ain't 'alf Hot Mum) and Admiral Akbar from Return of the Jedi.
