Sadly, I just don't believe anymore. It's not just the performances but the way that the players just simply don't appear to be caring. It's a real shame as Ranieri has been excellent and I think it is the players but the fact is that if he can't sort it out then someone else can and has to.

The reason I would do it now is that we are still in Europe, still in the cup and above the relegation zone. Should any of these 3 change, in particular Europe, it may prevent us from getting the type of candidate in which we desire.

Having a think, there aren't really too many people around who specialise in avoiding relegation. The ones who come to mind:

Nigel Pearson (obviously) - get him in until the end of the season to sort out the discipline and he knows the players and their circumstances well. But have too many bridges been burnt and is he the same without Steve Walsh and the others who left?

Alan Pardew - has a lot of heart and belief and a good manage on discipline. Not a bad appointment and Palace where better under him than Aladyce currently

Roy Hodgson - teams are well organised under him but... surely we can do better.

Frank De Boer - my personal choice. A great track record of winning, good discipline and out of work. Rumor is he is/was keen on the Rangers job so surely we would be a better proposition but I think we would need to be still in Europe to attract him.

What is everyone else's thoughts? Let's try and keep this to a discussion as to the next manager, the 'should Ranieri go' is elsewhere.

I'd be really surprised if Ranieri was sacked - the owners stood by Nigel Pearson in a worse position without sacking him (and he hadn't acheived what Ranieri has).

What I think will happen is that Ranieri will now bite the bullet and it could see the dropping of Wes, Huth, Drunkwater, Mahrez and Vardy - probably not all.

The defence hads been shambolic - in particular the central defensive pairing. Collectively they are too old and too slow. One of them needs to be dropped for Amartey - possibly both for Amartey and Wague.

Fuchs and Simpson haven't been much better and Fuchs was awful against Man United - not tracking the runner (Mata).

If the defence can be fixed then the forwards have less pressure ...

What has to stop is the aimless high balls to Vardy ... if we are playing that sort of ball it needs to be to Slimani or Ulloa otherwise it means we have gifted possession - Vardy needs to be played in with much better passes - and this is where we come down to Drinkwater - his distribution has been awful in recent weeks.

I'd be tempted to play Vardy wide left letting him come in and shoot ... with Leo or Slimani as a target man

Nothing to lose in the Cup on Saturday so lets experiment

    Schmeichel

    Albrighton Wague Huth Amartey Chilwell

    Ndid Mahrez

    Gray Slimani Vardy

But whilst i agree its the players, we can leave all our best players out for underperforming, it is 2/3rds of the season through and he still hasnt sorted it out. You want to be able to get your best players out there on the pitch and if Ranieri cant make them perform, somebody else can.

Just can't see the owners bringing anyone else in ed ... so it comes down to the players... the FA Cup game showed that there are players who want to play ... Benny and Amartey arguably deserved starts based on the cup game as compared the woeful defending of Wes and Huth in recent games ...

Burnley - centre half nods ball down to centre forward ... where was the marking?
United - Huth totally exposed by Mikhitaryan and Wes too slow to cover - Ibrahimovic the only United payer available for a pull back ... we had plenty of defenders back but nonbody marking Ibra .. desperate dive by Wes - shot through his legs - Kaspar no chance
Swansea first goal - their centre half scores - where was the marking?

Wes is throwing himself around aimlessly at the moment - his old bad habit .. stay on your feet and just get close to your man

I'll say what I've been typing since I joined these forums - keep the faith.

If we get relegated so be it - it has been a ride that I never thought I'd ever be on as a Leicester fan.

    Otherwise Mancini...

I respect that option coming from a Leicester fan as oppose to pundits and social media experts who are purely patronising about it.
My own opinion is that we have gone so far backwards that sentiment is gone and we shouldn't allow that to come before the welfare of the club and I fear currently that not only are we getting relegated but will be rock bottom! It would undo so many years of hard work and be so humiliating. I'd hate for him to get sacked though and would really want him to move upstairs so to speak and have an younger guy in. I wouldn't be against him staying to try and rescue it this season but if we go down we need someone new

What has the world come to where even Ed doesn't believe anymore! :emoticon-0106-cryin

I don't think i'd really want any of these options to be fair.

Nigel Pearson is great, but isn't a short term solution and having a more open manager recently has been a breath of fresh air rather than the tension that Pearsons press conferences bought.

Alan Pardew may keep us up, but we'd be right back here again next year. Hes given Palace and Newcastle a good 6 months and then gone to ****.

Roy Hodgson ... god no ...

Frank De Boer hasn't exactly shown he can do well in a competitive league, you cant take him seriously in a league where Bony, Depay and Janssen were the top scorers.

I'd certainly be happy with this one to be fair, again though, may not stay up, but would be well suited for an instant return.

I don't see the owners sacking Ranieri this season, question is, would Ranieri stick around in the championship or retire?

Football Manager 2007 - I took Leicester to Champion League victory from League 1 with goals from a guy called Mauro Zarate who has just joined Watford.

Andy King was the captain that lifted the trophy - probably explains why I have some loyalty towards him.

The club has good youngsters who must be looking to make an impression - Chilwell, Benalouane, Wague, Amartey, Musa, Ndidi, Mendy, Gray - and I don't see Kasper, Drinkwater and Albrighton not giving their all. The latter two have been less effective recently but they have still put in the effort. Claudio has to be brave enough to give these lads a chance to build a team together. The old guard just isn't working any more. Put Mahrez into the mix and maybe even Leo might fancy being in a team like that. If I see Claudio bring Okazaki back in then I think I'll resign myself to life in the Championship next season.
