Opportunity Knocked, But We Didn´t Listen

So the results all went our way yesterday
But little difference did it make,
For we couldn´t do what we had to today
Despite so much being at stake

We huffed and we puffed as so often this year
Then one hopeless lapse was enough,
To give them a goal which we just cannot bear
With an attack that´s decidedly duff

They´ll be delighted with their fighting draw
Which was what they came here to get,
But in all reality they were quite poor
Which makes our show one to forget

Bialkowski though was worth the entrance fee
Pulling off a great save or two,
Especially late on from one Alex Tettey
Who was looking to piledrive one through

So still status quo as regards the top six
And Sheffield Wednesday next to come,
One-pointers now won´t keep us in the mix
So at least we know what´s to be done.

 

..but while it´s mathematically feasible
No need for all hope to be lost,
And for most here, it would be pleasable
Nay, euphoric, with a play-off post.

 

..with thirty-six points still to play for
And Sheff Wednesday next on the list,
That´s the win we have to pray for
Or another chance will be missed,
For once April signals its coming
The games get progressively hard,
And any points gap would be numbing
Making it tough to move forward.
