This thread is a bit like the one over on lfw.
There is a lot of bitterness about.
I'm not sure there were any winners in this election.

Youngsters bribed by Labour with tuition fees
If and when they get jobs they will then vote for the Tory bribes of tax cuts

    Denial is a wonderful thing.
Wait and see. I think there are a few scenarios where things could work out rather well. In the context of everything being basicallly **** of course.

Sad thing is the scenarios depend on the Tories not completely imploding and Politicians acting in a more collaborative fashion across the board, putting the country above their careers and party. Perhaps I'm overly optimistic.....

Definitely. Of all those available on either bench, Starmer is by far the most qualified to lead the Brexit talks. No chance.

You'd like to think they would but, at present, you have as near the two extremes leading the parties as is possible. May wouldn't attempt to bring any of the others into collaboration in her weakened position and her main challengers are just waiting for an excuse to pounce and force her out. It's a total shambles of her own making and I fear we will be voting again this year and Labour will win a majority...

That's exactly what should happen now. May is a dead PM walking and will need to go at the first opportunity. However, that could well be at the end of the brexit negotiations, during which some cross-party cooperation would be a big help (won't happen of course).

See my post on the politics thread Col. Davidson is the only one coming out of this fiasco with any credit.

I think she would be a great future leader. I don't agree with everything she says, but she really is a very convincing debater.

Another winner from the election was, yet again, the exit poll. There's no need to stay up overnight and wait for results. The exit poll at 10.00pm tells you the result.

He's a human rights lawyer, and never negotiated anything in his life. His credibility was shot for me on Brexit, when he announced that "any deal is better than no deal". That's no way to go into vital negotiations, and Junckers would have him for breakfast

    Amazing really...
May won but lost. <doh> Corbyn lost but won. <doh>

The only thing that got screwed is our glorious country, and people are still fighting over the result, there's statistics and damn lies - but we are in a weakened position right now. I agree with a few here that it would be good to have a negotiation team that represents the electorate for negotiations - but there is a real danger in that 'idealist' scenario too.

One good thing came out of the election...
