Doesn't matter whether women swear more, less or the same as men though does it. If women want to be considered as the same as men then they should be in all respects, not just the ones where they were disadvantaged before. If I can swear in front of men I can swear in front of women. I think the voluntary swear filter should deal with this issue now so I don't see the mods needing to deal with any swearing, if it's directed at somebody in particular it would fall under abuse rather than swearing and be modded (or not) on that basis. If there's any words getting through it then highlight it so that the swear filter can hopefully be adjusted to do it by default.
Well that's the point isn't it, women swear in front of men, men swear in front of women, etc there isn't really a differentiation between it nowadays, atleast not among younger people. I did wonder why on the forums page Scunthorpe was appearing with the stars in it!
No I think it's a slightly different argument. The previous one was they swear just as much as us so why should we change, mine was I don't care if they swear or not I'm not adjusting my language for them just because they're female.
Fair point. It all ties in though, with gender not really being an issue in swearing to most people nowadays.
Some intresting thoughts there chaps love the scunthorpe one and i am glad we have an option for hiding the scunthorpe one cheers.
Our thanks to you, paramotormanal, it's a debate we need to have. I would not like my children/grandchildren to see the sort of stuff that appeared on the brizzle thread that was previously mentioned. I think we can rely on our mod team to sort stuff like that out. There will always be a half wit and if they don't like the ethos of this site they can go to another one and speak to other like minded people. We all have the option to leave if we don't like it, I'm going to stick it out and see how it goes.
I think the addition of the swearing filter is an ideal solution, problem solved(at least that's one I won't have to worry about)
It seems that pictures etc. only show when you're logged in so browsing without logging in could be a way to prevent any pictures causing offence. Think I'll personally just interact at home. Can't take the risk at work.
Browsing without logging in now suspended. This facility may come back when traffic dies down, see thread on general chat.
