There's over 300 million people live in America. That's one story to support Obama care. No doubt there's plenty of stories out there about why Obama care is a waste of money and why people don't agree with it.
Duncan's story is awful and good luck to the lad for pulling through. At the same time it's typical of some attitudes of "why should I have to pay for others health care via taxation", as his mum said, until it hits closer to home, and suddenly it's a great idea! At which point the NHS and social inclusivity suddenly don't look so bad!
Of course I realise that, and it was not meant as a statistic, but it does highlight where younger people at a time of their lives when they are not earning can benefit from the care. Furthermore, the parents would have to pay a separate insurance for him, if they could afford it, so they would also be paying something out. The may well have chosen not to do so because he was a fit and healthy lad. A chance they would have to take. If the insurance companies, underwritten by the banks, had co-operated and given the scheme some more breathing space then the cost that people keep quoting would have been amortised eventually.
