Maybe, maybe not. Often unbalanced people with murderous tendencies will attach themselves to a cause to lend some validation to their actions.
Each of these vile acts need to be analysed individually to try and find the motive rather than just assume it's a particular one. I know there is understandably a great deal of anger here, but whatever the cause, I don't think a confrontational stance against the entire Muslim community is going to solve things.

 

Not a good time to do this argument, but as a card-carrying atheist may I re-iterate my thanks to the many Muslim surgeons, doctors, anaestheticsts, nurses and others who helped me through my recent major surgery.

Every Muslim I have ever personally know has ranked right up there with the most decent people on this planet. In fact they've been the most conscientious and polite people I know.

There are assholes amongst them but they are a small minority. We don't blame all football fans today for the hooligan crisis in the 90's. Even back in the 90's we didn't. It was just an asshat minority.

There is nothing more evil about Islam than there is Christianity, Judaism, or Hinduism.

People are evil, not religion. Evil people will twist religion to use it for bad. Good people will use it for good.

 

I hope the name and details of the murderer is not released to the public.

Yup...religion at the end of the day is a bunch of words describing something that even if it exists is beyond our comprehension.

No creator, even as an experiment is that thick that they haven't learned whatever was needed to learn about both the good or bad of humanity.

If there's no creator then we are on our own so it's even more important that we eradicate this side of our make up.

I believe we largely have as a species...unfortunately it leaves us vulnerable to the few that have not.

I'll remember how the people of Manchester all religions and race rushed to give up their homes and resources long after I think about the Neanderthals that carried this out.
