Prediction League next season

Like Bri says, he'll be running the usual table side by side so if there's a load of quitters then it'd be straightforward to revert back to the old way... I assume.

I carried on the old system as nobody wanted to do it. It was on the point of folding which would have been a shame. I haven`t heard of this new idea. Sounds interesting though. I reckon flanders should be barred like.

 

So should us '16 diehards' be automatically included, 'cos we obviously want to (so it seems), or have we got to 'apply' individually

 

No idea mate. Presumably Bri will post the details prior to the new season and recruitment will be sorted out then.

Well if somebody has a runaway week, they can't pick up more than 3 points, so runaway leaders are going tot ake a long time to pull away, I'm hoping it being more competitive it will keep people interested longer. Mini leagues will develop within the league and hopefully bring interest way from the top of the table.

 

Oh yes, I'll be keeping a running table of everything away from the main concept just in case it did collapse. What ever happens the format can revert back at any point.

 

The diehards will be auto selected. If any don't want they can just speak up and I'll take them off.

It will be diehard auto selected, then the invitation will go out to board regulars, then regular visitors, then open to anybody if it's not filled by then.

 

Certainly seems like the interest might stay longer. Runaways probably the main reason for the loss of involvement.

This is my thinking, my account went on the blink for over a month, there seemed no point playing anymore so didn't. If folk miss a few weeks, they lose a few matches but they're not cut off from missing a few. The old format is brutal to your chances even just missing a couple of weeks.

Just trying to maintain interest in the league longer, maybe have a bit more banter with the head to heads. Besides, we've been on the same format for 5 years, a freshen up could be fun.

I've set up a website and might even video the results yet.

Need to sit down and work out how many weeks the championship runs for so I can say how many players are needed then I can start gathering names. I'll do that after the weekend.

Going on last season Thursday matches were rare so I think Thursday evening will be results day.

 

Whatever you decide pops is fine by me.

 

Have two leagues.

Promotion and relegation. Just like real life

 

If I did half league relegation it sets up two leagues for the season after(if it is successful) and gives people more incentive to stick with it.

Got more ideas flowing here. Ways to maintain continuity for cases like you mentioning. I'll work on it all next week and come back with a concept to present.

Shame that Bri. I was looking forward to something a bit different. I thought when you mentioned it it seemed like a real time consuming thing.
