Tax "fraud" (whatever that means in this case) doesn't sound like too big a deal, until you remember it is classified as a money-laundering offence these days. THAT is a very big deal to the authorities. Dunno what the FA will make of it, but HMRC et al will not be amused...
Possibly mate, all very interesting at the moment. The club in question really doesn't come as a surprise though. I'm busy this week so I'll just catch the omnibus on Sunday.
Before my time but in the early 50's Sunderland were heavily fined for "under counter payments " - basically cash inducements for incomming players .We'll the FA are now eager to show how ruthless and responsive they are - I wonder what they do. I also see Dour Dave has been summoned for his "slapping " comment. Hope they make an example of him aswell - he spits his dummy out and walks - bring in a new manager (Benetez ??)
For **** sake!! Only Newcastle could do this!! "We're Newcastle and we will not pay our tax, will not pay our tax, will not pay our tax"
Interesting the difference between the two boards, the Newcastle fans are making ten posts a minute on the situation whereas the last post on the West Ham board was in February.
'Benefit in kind' involved apparently, which isn't surprising given the nature of how agents work. I'd fully expect that agents are at the root of it.
