Well I'm going to take the plunge and make Vikings my next box set.

The Wire is all about the life cycle in Ghetto drug worlds, Police corruption, morals are always on the line, absolutely top notch if you like that Genre. I was hooked, started watching it after Xmas and finished it last Friday, 5 series to get through.

Vikings is one hell of a comedown from The Wire. Have you seen The Sopranos?

Yeah I've seen that....and that's why I don't watch too many...like now I'm full up on the Wire and I'll be game for another Box set in a few years, hopefully I'll get it out of my system by then.

I'm not into mythical or magical shows, it just bores me, seeing dragons, demons, trolls, witches and all that just puts me right off. To be honest, like I said earlier there's not a lot of TV I do watch, only historical stuff seems to captivate me.
I found Vikings to be educational as well as just an excellent watch as I had no idea how they actually lived (aside from being hard bastards that raided the **** out of us back in the day). The fourth season just gone was superb, I won't give too much away but in the second half of the season, the young actor who plays Ivar the Boneless is phenomenal.

I've seen the movie of This is England but not the follow up TV shows. Never seen Sopranos/ Wire/ True Detective.

I've got into Stan Lee's Lucky Man recently on Sky One. Didn't watch it when it came out. As Series 2 has just started thought I'd see series one (on Sky iplayer) and now watching 2 episodes per night.
Cracking theme tune from Corinne Baily rae.

All three of those shows are awesome.
Stop True Detective after season 1 though, season 2 was a completely different story, with a new cast, and was nowhere near as good.

Vikings is my second favourite contemporary show, after Game of Thrones, which does have elements of magic and the like, but they are underplayed, especially in the beginning. There is some dragon action too, which is eased in and by the time they are kicking ass, you are so into the show, you don't care.

Oh and Game of Thrones V Vikings.......no contest.

Vikings is a very good show with a decent cast, but GoT is better than any movie, production value and writing alone it is head and shoulders above any other Audio Visual creation mankind has ever produced. Except maybe the Wire.

Everyone always raves about The Wire and last year the wife borrowed the box set from somebody at work. We got about 4 or so episodes in and didn't bother again as we found it boring.

GoT is far and away the best series ever created. Followed by that sequel to Malcolm in the Middle - Breaking Bad
