I hope if we proceed, we get Man City/United, Chelsea or Arsenal away. Only because I know we'll stage a protest on that game for maximum media effect! Imagine disrupting that game? Every media outlets will put that further up in their pages.
If we get Arsenal away in the 3rd round you can guarantee that 5,000 of ours will emerge from the woodwork.
As Holden touches on, a tie against one of the big teams could be an amazing opportunity to protest. However, interfering with the game itself could see a backlash from a lot of football traditionalists around the country.
As the adage goes, "all PR is good PR." Anyone with half a brain could turn that. I would argue that the Premier League is shielded from 'bad owners' such as ours, because of the media attention on it and subsequently lower league teams are always overlooked. I would cite that Burnley, Brighton, Coventry plus many many other teams that make up the Football League have all be supportive of our efforts, that what we suffer on a daily and weekly basis is a wider football issue. That only bigheadedness and revenues generated by the Premier League stops them from wading or even caring about what happens elsewhere in the country.
PLEASE isn't shielded by bad owners to be fair - the governing bodies don't give two hoots as long as the owners keep the club running. Blackburn had owners who didn't realise you could get relegated from the premier league. Portsmouth owners didn't even really exist. Currently, Swansea have owners who seem intent on pushing an MLS model on a premier league team
