Defoe won't move. Rumour has it he has a relegation release clause in his contract whereby he gets a free transfer. If that is true why move to West Ham now? There will still be plenty of takers in the summer if they do stay up, if not he is in for a bumper pay day. Master stroke by the agents. The romantics will point to the West Ham thing, but this will come down to money. If he moves now, West Ham are going to be paying him and Sunderland large. I mean you won't get more than 10m-15m but he is probably worth more than to Sunderland at this time in terms of survival.

Interestingly I wonder if you take away his penalties what his scoring record at Sunderland actually looks like this season. Don't tell me, you can't take away pens as he put them away. I'm sure the argument was different about Mr Shearer...

Apparently West Ham have more than doubled their offer to £13m and are offering him £100k a week. Hard to turn that down at 34 like, it'll be at least a 2 year contract I would imagine. Not a bad way to run ya playing days down like.....bastard !!

People moaned about having people playing for us that don't care. Mitro clearly does. He plays like he's a fan. That is what you need.

 

I don't disagree but I still just don't get the feeling that Rafa really fancies him. I can definitely imagine us going for another striker should we get promoted in the summer, think Lee Ryder touched on that too recently.
