Probably because we would have been bankrupt by now if Labour were still in power and the Tories are still digging us out of the s hit like they always do after a Labour Goverment.
The national debt is not high in historical terms - over 200% of GDP. after the War. however Labour still managed to create the NHS and carry out an extensive council house building programme that got the economy going and helped reduce debt over time . All this business about Labour bankrupting the economy is just Right Wing bull. A story peddled by corporate media barons who are looking after y heir vested interests. In addition budget surpluses have been few and far between in the past. The fact is to run a surplus you have to make cuts in public services which means job cuts which means less consumer spending power ultimately causing shrinkage in the economy. People always try to compare the country's economy yo a household or business debt. This disregards the obvious fact that most households have a mortgage. Provided the debt can be serviced there's no problem. At the moment the government can borrow at historically low interest rates. So it isn't a problem.
I see May is promising to limit the immigration figures down to what Cameron promised 7 years ago yer couldn't make it up but I am sure guilible f**kers will lap it up
May looks to be a certain winner but so was Hilary Clinton in USA - if she loses our countries future is southern based "Westminister led " as democracy will have been overturned as the new leader will want to remain in Europe. The country voted out but we all know the largely well connected southern & London elite want to stay in the EU - its not political election now but an alternative EU vote with democracy the loser. The result is up in the air. IMO we will not Brexit the EU in any case as it will be reformed after the German, French and Italian elections - and trade will not be affected which seems to be what many remainers want - free trade - my head is caving in here - I am going back on a footie thread
Milliband's a hand-biting arsewipe. Employed by the club, but flounces off to a cushy job in the States after doing his political posturing about the Di Canio appointment? Kernt...
As I understand it any EU citizen who comes to The UK for any reason is considered to be an immi An interesting thought, though it's hard to see it happening. It would though serve to keep most of us who voted to leave happy enough. I voted for us to join a trade organisation in the original Referendum. It wasn't perfect, with every other country having to support small French Farms, but it worked well enough. Over the years this Trade Organisation has morphed into a monster of a political federation, and that's the bit I dislike intensely. The UK has little in common with the majority of our European neighbours, in terms of our cultural, legal and political heritage. Those differences have served us pretty well to date and they are worth preserving.
I agree but he is the only credible labour candidate atm imo - still a bit of a Definitely not a trusted football man - marriner or mackem -
I seem to remember when we went in we carried many good practices and standards with us including workers rights - but my view may have been emotionally affected - we'd won the cup in '73 then the great Stokoe walked away - -
I've been over to watch Boldon playing cricket at Ushaw Moor, today. I asked where their pro signing was and they informed me his visa had been rejected about 2 weeks ago. Apparently it's rife throughout cricket now and people are being knocked back, left, right and centre. I'm not sure if this has just started happening or its been like this for a season or two. Up until now, it's been pretty unheard of and lads have flown in from all over the world in years gone by without issue. We must be clamping down.
Many footballers could be affected in the future as well. NO EU employment laws to ensure they can cross borders freely.
