All very, very true. But then neither Norwich nor Swansea were a class apart last season, and both have taken to the Premiership like a duck to water.

I think that little bit of extra time you get on the ball in the Premiership will suit our game, particularly at home, down to the ground - should we get there.

After reading most of this thread it seems that Saints fans are about as far up there own arse these days as Leeds supporters! I really hope your team comes out with the same attitude most of you have, they won't know what hit them.

To those who think this game will be a walk in the park, I have a funny feeling you are going to be very disappointed.

    Sorry, what were you saying?

Well done Southampton, seems we forgot to turn up today and gave you 2 easy goals and a pen that was dodgy. Congrats on the win...good luck for the rest of the season :)

did you see the goals?? Amateur defending to say the least, and the wonderful new GK from Man U gifted you the first. Our defence switched off, lost the plot, didn't bother...anyway you want to say it, but they didn't play well for the second week in a row. Don't think you were great, you weren't. you were average...we gave you the game, be happy, move on...that's what we're doing :)

Well done again. Enjoy your season.

Yeah,I saw the goals. The first was a big mistake from your Gk,but the second goal was a great goal from Lambert,Lallana got the ball did a Cruyff turn passed it to Lambert and he smashed it home,Boom. Then Taddy Lee used his skill to go past your defender and should of scored, but didn't,it was never a pen though.
    And the pitch looked awful.
Yes,you gave us the game <laugh>...I am happy, very happy.

Good luck for the rest of the season aswell xx.

That picture is amazing - in fairness the amount of times teams we've beaten have had an "off day" is taking the piss. Ever thought it's the standard of the opposition making you look poor?

Oh and btw, our pitch is not so bad this season! Not quite sure why there are so many posts about it on this thread, it's been far worse in previous years. The Saracens have hardly played at the Vic this year! lol..excuses excuses. ;)

Amazes me how lucky Saints are. I mean, so many teams have had really off performances against us this season that being top of the league now and for four months earlier in the season is just a fluke. I feel sorry for the likes of Brighton, Boro, Burnley and others who must always seem to meet teams on a good day.

Well I can only hope that our luck continues to the end of the season and that more teams have off days against us. At least that will give Nigel more time to try and work out how to get us playing good, fast flowing, passing football.

We can't keep relying on luck and at least we are past 50 points and safety now.

Yes, I was worried that we might not be safe from relegation yet.

I stand by my previous points. This thread demonstrates just how high a proportion of Saints fans are blinkered glory hunters.

Anyone who had followed that match by any means would know just how poor both teams were. Save for one isolated moment of quality from Rickie Lambert, there really were no redeeming features from that Saints performance. Watford were simply worse, and while we are the first to admit that we have been even worse than that this season, anyone who knows anything about football knows that was not a typical Hornets performance.

Enjoy your defeat to Blackpool in the playoff semi-finals. <ok>

Saints fans have had recent bad times and are now enjoying the good times...how does that make us glory hunters. We had big crowds in League 1, so most fans stuck with the team. We can play beautiful football, but this was an occasion for winning at all costs and we did. Wouldn't judge Watford on one game, so don't judge us...we are not top and top goalscorers for nothing.
