I think we will probably go with: -------------Sczc--------- Sagna---Mert---Kosc---Gibbs -------Flamini---Arteta----- Ramsey------Ozil------Cazorla ------------Giroud-------- Bench: Flappy, Verm, Monreal, Wilshere, Rosicky, Walcott, Bendtner Assuming Walcott and Flamini are back and that Wilshere is fit enough for the bench. If these players are fit then our bench is looking the best it has all season.
It'll have to be Gnabry on the bench then instead of Walcott. I was really hoping he was going to be fit to at least come off the bench in this game. At least he is back soon i guess.
For the first time in years I'm excited about us going to OT, rather than putting myself through an hour of pain then hiding somehwere for most of the 2nd half. If confidence counts for anything we have a massive chance...
It's nice to finally have a midfield selection dilemma. We will actually have options from the bench.
I've read that Giroud is a doubt for Sunday, he picked up a knee injury against Dortmund. If we have to start Bendtner against United, i'll cry.
http://www.francefootball.fr/news/Flamini-de-retour/415322 They've been right on things like this before.
Thinking about the game against them at Old Trafford last season and some tactics that were used to defeat us, and one of main ones was them putting Rooney on Arteta. He was basically in Arteta's face for most of the game at OT, and never let Arteta start any of our attacks, and pressed from the front. It was a very good tactic from Fergie. Compare that to our game against Liverpool last week, when their midfield dropped off and gave Arteta all the time in the world to feed the ball to our better attacking players. We tried to play the long ball in that game against United last season, but Giroud was bloody awful (one of his worst games in an Arsenal shirt) and everything bounced off him. Hopefully this time, he can retain the ball better and bring the likes of Ozil and Ramsey into the game, if United press from the front like they did last season.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ed--Gunners-terrible-record-Old-Trafford.html Arsenal have a poor record in big games at old Trafford (all prem teams do apart from Chelsea) But records are there to be broken. Hopefully you can get a draw??
I wonder if starting Arteta and Flamini in this game will be a good idea, given how Rooney sat on Arteta for basically the entire match last time out and effectively strangled us. It means we'll have an additional outlet to play out from the back if Rooney decides to drop deep into midfield. He will be a key player for them I feel. If he performs, we'll have a hard time of things.
We just beat both Liverpool and Dortmund (in Germany) with clean sheets, so we are more than capable of getting something at OT. And if we don't, it won't be the end of the world, this is a game we can afford to drop points. .
Yep. I agree. This year should be your year v United. I hope you take all three points, you are the form team at the moment. In fact you've been the best team ever since AVB's negative spiral comment.
If we beat them, for me it would be the most satisfying win out of the 3, I want to beat them, I just want to give it to their arrogant fans.
