Don't know what that feller at the guardian was smoking when he said we played more long balls than the mancs on Sunday, according to Opts via Sky Sports's Martin Tyler the mancs played more long balls against us and its the highest number(53)in a premiered league game this season.

"MARTIN SAYS: Our friends at Opta, who define a long ball as "a forward pass of 35 yards or more that is kicked into space rather than a precise pass aimed at a particular team-mate", inform me that United played 53 long balls in Sunday's 1-1 draw with bitters rivals Liverpool - their most in a top-flight game this season."

ooooohhh so if you have a bit of talent and ca aim a pass 40 yards cross field you are ok but if you are a bunch of hoofers like utd you are long ball.

    got it.

Plenty of scum in there who will sympathise with your LFC mirth. There's even a Chelsea fan in there, but he is a despicable human being, if I can even rank him as such. Not because he supports the chavs, either.

So basically its not something you would bring Fellaini on for then or play to Zlatan?
It sounds like the type of pass more suited to Valencia, Martial or Mane so they can run on to them. Probably why Opta have you down as playing a few less because your fast lad was missing <ok>

On the contrary, the human tree and ZI are both powerful in the air but Opta reckon the 53 "long balls" were hoofed into empty areas.
If you wanna believe they're wrong fair enough Diego.:emoticon-0105-wink:

I am quite willing to accept they are right, I would think the majority of our "long balls" are played to space ahead of Valencia, it would be silly to play that kind of ball to Felli or Zlatan.
I cant believe that both you and Astro have posted things that are pro United in the last couple of days :emoticon-0100-smile
