Macclesfield Town are on the verge of completing the signing of a young defender, the club has confirmed on its website. The full-back is said to have agreed terms with the Silkmen and is due to put pen to paper in the near future. Macclesfield boss Gary Simpson has moved to bring in the player as a direct replacement for Izak Reid, who moved to Morecambe last week. He could not name his target but gave a few cryptic clues, including that he was playing at League Two level last season. Simpson said: "In terms of bringing young players through he fits the bill. "The ladâs lost his way a little bit, although thatâs not due to a lack of ability, but heâs hungry and he wants to do well and improve. "Weâve drawn up the contract , which is a decent deal, and itâs just a case of him putting pen to paper." Academy star Reid turned down a two-year contract to move to League Two rivals Morecambe. As he is aged under 24, the Silkmen are due a fee for his registration. The two two clubs are yet to come to an agreement, and the deal may go to a tribunal.
