Horrific horrific fire in Grenfell tower in west london http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-40269625 completely engulfed i sincerely hope all the brave firefighters, emergency services and residents are safe
How can an entire building of 27 stories become completely engulfed so rapidly? This is absolutely awful. What safety codes apply to these buildings? Is there no sprinkler system? How can you have complete systems failure like this? Christ, if you are trapped in that with no hope of rescue - it is just too awful to think about.
People on the upper floors were seen flashing lights from windows etc It's just horrific, it really is
Ditto. Fingers crossed for all the families living in there. Truly heartbreaking watching that. I am in the process of redundancy but do you know what....I am the lucky one today.
That's the stuff of nightmares for those inside, and those witnessing it will carry the scars too , as will those involved in the refurbishment. Tragic.
This looks horrific & worrying for all concerned, especially after reading the blogs on the link above.
Shocking. Fears the tower block will collapse. Early reports that it was caused by a faulty fridge but how that could have established already I'm not sure.
A resident being interviewed on BBCnews just said his neighbour told him that his fridge exploded which caused the fire. That was on the 4 th floor. He struggled to get him and his family out so Christ knows how many above the 4th floor managed to escape. Appalling.
Have you read the resident blogs above regarding power surges & appliances exploding? Still very early but worrying all the same.
