Match Day Thread Liverpool (0) vs (2) Southampton EFL Cup Semi-final Second Leg 25/01/2017 KO 8:00PM

I've just watched it. Laughable commentary ("Southampton are rocking" - really?) and the penalty comment is a joke. Quite spoiled my day, and now I'm not going to go to Wembley as we obviously don't deserve to be there.

Jamie Carragher is Liverpool through and through and was a bloody tough defender so I'll listen to his view. Nice to hear Lawrenson's praise too. He can be a twat, but he was a great player and again Liverpool to the core.

It felt like 10 minutes passed watching the ball float through the air to the empty net, only for the Liverpool fans who were all celebrating on their feet to start waving their arms and shouting abuse, before I realised it hadn't gone in. Mental.

 

Row 11 to the left of the goal, right in line with the goal celebrations. A few rows up and to the right of this shot:



As epic as that is I don't even think it does it justice as to how amazing it felt!

 

Actually, we haven't had a full report of the match day perspective and emotions from anyone that was there really - only snippets. Anyone want to start a new thread to share with us armchair fans what it was like. My front room got pretty emotional, so I imagine it must have been mental there.

 

I always worry someone's going to get hurt when players pile on like that!

 

Another amazing moment when after we sang for Shane Long, someone at Anfield played Hey Jude on the speakers! So Longy got a really goo serenade (about 2:21 onwards in this video from the echo)

Watching it back, Dusan worked his socks off chasing back too. All of them really wanted this. Love it...

As I mentioned in another thread, I remember Tony Adams picking up the winning goal scorer in the League Cup and dropping him and breaking his arm (meant he couldn't play in the FA Cup Final).

One of the things I really loved about the celebration is that the players that are usually quite reserved reallly came out of their shell.
I've never seen Tadic go quite so mental considering for most goals he usually gives a smile and a high five.
Bertrand has been quite moody (not bad-mouthing him I just think he has been far more reserved and sincere) but to see him get to the bundle so quickly was lovely.
Favourite moment of that celebration has to be Yoshida. Flies in with the knee-slide!

That's great, you can see him starting to shout before the ball even reaches the goal. What a feeling!

 

Strange how all the fans in the background appear to be dead

 

Still can't quite believe we only conceded 2x fouls Wednesday night. Probably a bit of good referring / good fortune in there but obviously a very disciplined display.

Also, 7x different goal scorers so far (Charlie, Jake, Sofiane, Jordy, Ryan, Nathan & Shane) & need I say, zero conceded.
