He definately could have done a job for us Bluebaldee, but lets be fair, for 99% of all our games, he went missing. His attitude wasnt right IMO. Would save his energy for a good knees up after the game!
I suspect he is/was one of the top earners within the dressing room and this move will not only free up his wages (whether or not we will recruit I don't know), but also further break down the last remaining pieces of the PT/LL era. I wish him well - I think he will relish a different club and I hope he goes on to fulfill his potential. As for a replacement? We have Cams and Wayne Brown to compliment Gill and Stanley, plus I suspect a couple of youngsters and all the wide men. If we get a new man in, where and when will he fit in?
Mrs OldBlue works in immigration Lines has frustrated me for ages, you know he`s got talent and seems always on the edge of doing something special but it never quite happens. Good luck to him, knowing our luck he`ll become a superstar and end up going to a top club for millions. Doubt if we had a seel on clause. I don`t think we need to bring in a replacement, squads now easily big enough to cover.
I imagine we would have a sell on clause. He only went to 50k so we must get something else out of it lol
I agree with Bb insofar as a motivated and lively Lines would have been good in L2. However I don't think, from what I have seen, that he is really Buckle's type of player. He is an asset which had to be realised. But we are now a bit thin in central MF. Gill, Stanley, Campbell, Brown................ I wouldn't be surprised if we make another signing. Pity we let Pell go.
Pell would have done well with us IMO. I think he left because he wanted to play regular football though. I dont know if we will get another midfielder in, but I really hope we get one more defender in. A good solid centre back is just what we need to ensure we keep the goals out.
With Lines off the wage bill, we can afford both a central midfielder and a central defender, if Lord Buckle so chooses....
Bb.....you mention 'Lord Buckle'....reminded me of Lord Buckley of the early 60's http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0x5x8lyON8&feature=related Perhaps PB is our Nazz
i think 50,000 was a bargain for us. i did my head in last season due to poor effort etc but in league 2 can could of ran this league if he made the effort. i would of rathered he stay and help get us up and increase his value and we could of got more for him!
Lines needed to get out of his comfort zone, so the move will give him the spur to fulfil that potential. We've got a few decent midfield options, so I'm not worried at all. Are we going to sign Nicky Hunt, then?
