I think you are spot on. I suspected a while ago that is part of the passing across the back so much and short into midfield I.e. Make the opposition try to press us much further up the pitch than they want to and then back and forward across the line. Good analogy the dope on a rope! Changing subject just remembered a funny moment last night. Do you remember Assombalonga clattering Jannson 2nd half when he had to have treatment? Leeds fans singing Jannson, Jannson knock him out - took Assombalonga a moment to realise what the song was but then turned to us and gave a really good smile and a cheeky thumbs up - fair play to he lad
Talking of which its snowing here. Match could be off... Hope its not a wasted trip.[/QUOTE] Ho Ho Ho - trying to board Eire's good ship Happy Clap is one thing but since when were you allowed in the comedy department?
To be honest Jock, can't see it being a tactic, it would be way way way too risky and dangerous, one slip up and we pay the price, this team ain't the Revie's Leeds team that beat Southampton 7-0, and I still love watching that match.......
Thought about it. Rope a dope, as I call it, is actually a common tactic deployed - to play defensively, and rely on a breakaway to get a result, Most teams use it for away games, but the difference I've noticed is that we only do it for 45-60 mins at home, on a very regular basis (unless things click & you can't help yourself, like the Derby game). Who knows? If the other lads observe for me (I'm off on a 6 week trip next month), & notice the pattern continue, then it's unlikely to be a coincidence. Time will tell. As long as it's successful, I don't care. They can go route 1 for the rest of the season if they want - as long as we get promoted!
