A number of former Black Cats have been linked with a return to the Stadium of Light this summer, and another has been thrown into the mix today… The Sun report that Grant Leadbitter, who has one year remaining on his contract at Middlesbrough, is wanted by Simon Grayson. Leadbitter began his career on Wearside and helped the Black Cats win promotion to the Premier League in 2007 before joining Ipswich Town two years later. In 2012 the midfielder joined Boro and he’s become a firm favourite during his time at the Riverside, making over 200 appearances while also becoming club captain. Meanwhile, Birmingham City boss Harry Redknapp has been speaking about his pursuit of Tommy Elphick, who has also been touted with a move to the north east. Redknapp confirmed his interest in the Aston Villa defender and according to the Chronicle he remains an option for Grayson. Would fit in with the work ethic Grayson is trying to instill. Would certainly have him above Gibson if he did come back.
He does one thing none of our other CMs do, gets regular goals from midfield. Add his work rate, experience and passion for the club. Bring him home!
Exactly as you said. Scores a few, he's good on corners, he runs himself into the ground, and he'd burst his shirt for the badge. We need exactly the likes of him and Catts to rebuild.
Signing Leadbitter makes no sense to me whatsoever. Were well stacked in central mid and alot of Boro fans have told me his age has caught up on him the past few years and hes now a shadow of the player he was (not that he was that good anyway).
A 'BIG no from me, I too agree it makes no sense whatsoever. I'd prefer to play Gibbo or some of the younger lads.
I dont agree mate 2 midget cms in the same lineup would not be good in my opinion. We already have McNair, Ndong, Catts, Rodwell and Gibson. Whats the point in signing another cm unless we offload one.
Mind this point is fair, I forgot about Rodwell and McNair who will be more than useful at this level.
Agreed - I thought it was strange how Catts appeared to be doing the box to box last week and N'Dong sitting deeper. To be fair to Catts he played well and would've scored on another day
McNair might be good or might not, Ndong and Catts fair play both solid, Rodwell too injury prone to be relied on and Gibson is utter ****. We've got numbers there but not quality and those numbers could dip at the drop of a hat if we pick up injuries which is more likely than not.
