    for me

    a) he set up the wall badly. he had 4 in when he stolled off the post, it never looked in the right spot and two more guys joined on their own. they let west ham get in the gap and it was then obvious where payet was going.

    b) karius was at least one step too far to his side.

    c) he showed really weak wrists letting it in as well...

I think you are right. ok payet is a great free taker and its a great position coughed up but IMO he never got his wall set not his position and even then got a hand to it but was weak.. 3 errors in one.

but what if you were an LFC fan looking as he lined up his wall knowing exactly what was coming....

the ball btw was 3 yards off the post such was the gap in wall. he still failed to save.

I was watching the wall and commented first that there was not enough in the wall. then he didn't have it in right spot... then it had a gap in it and was never tight.

I think the 2nd one is worse than the free. Look where antonios finish is right in the middle of the goal. Karius gets his positioning wrong and goes well too far to his near post when he makes himself big. All antonio has done is try to flick it on which he did very weakly and not very accurately.

Is it his rushing out or his starting position though... its one or other... in the end matip ****ed it and he reacted.

could he have stayed back and saved it or got his starting position right.... i dunno.

it a question of whether he was purely reactive and got it wrong OR that he simply wasn't focused to be reading matip getting it wrong.

some of those might be a ,ittle harsh on a young player..

I do think he'd not a hope of saving it where he ended up so whichever it is its not covering him in glory is it... as i said gravy to the long list of pundits he himself invited to have a go.

Most have been siding with Karius and saying the Nevilles should stop chatting **** when they're unable to see a single problem with Man Utd #zerocredibility

It wasn't close to side netting. My issue isn't even how far over he is. He got to the ball... the ball about about a foot and half from the corner when it got to the keeper... he just wasn't strong enough to push it wide that's my issue.

I will get slated but i dont think the boy has done much wrong.

Everybody loves a scapegoat, and he is the latest one. The whole team capitulated against Bournemouth, Blaming him for the fourth is a joke, so if he held it and we would have drawn would everybody be happy.

Payet freekick against any other team would be marked down as stunning. But any excuse to have a crack against him is taken. How you can have a go at karius for the second and ignore matip misjudging the flight of the ball is beyond me.

There are a number of players in our first team who most wanted sacked off last season who have come more than good this season.

Please learn to give players time. We moan about youth not being given a chance, then moan about not buying big name ready made players. We hoped for fourth, now moaning about throwing away a chance at the title, before Christmas!

Anyway i dont really like to cause an argument but its how i see it.

How much analysis are the Nevilles going to dedicate to that horror show of a free kick Everton scored an own goal from?

Since it wasn't on sky and Neville was doing the pundit job (analysis), probably very little

To be fair they've got little time for analysis these days, they've invested all of their screen time to character assassinations and petty arguments.

As one who has been vocal about my concerns over Karius, I must say that the criticism on the Wham goals is a little harsh.
Yes, he was a bit too far over for the free but errors like that can happen with the best. He could have done better, but neither goals were the result of howlers, imo.
His shaky start means that every little mistake he makes will now be magnified through over-analysis and for this reason I repeat that I think he should be taken out of the firing-line for a while. For his sake and that of the team.
Having said that, if Mig comes back in all the haters will be all over him looking for any little thing they can find in order to have a go.

    It was his starting position.

If that was Lloris for example, when Matip misses that header he'd have been in a position to be first to that ball, or at least have been much closer to Antonio.

Karius was too far back and Antonio had time to slot it past him.

Just to prove this point, the Guardian have a massive article on the issue destroying the Nevilles

    https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...lle-gary-phil-liverpool-goalkeeper-sky-sports

"Liverpool’s young goalkeeper is free and welcome to say what he wants, even if it does upset Sky Sports’ thin-skinned prefect of punditry"

Exactly - no one is saying that Karius didn't make mistakes or doesn't deserve criticism.

But for so-called pundits to go OTT and tell him to 'shut up and play' is just disrespectful.

The funny thing is that Ian Ladyman, the journalist who interviewed Karius even messaged Gary Neville saying that Karius was quite respectful in his comments. Neville responded back saying 'Karius is a big boy, he doesn't need defending'. Sums up the 'Lads culture' in the media.

The irony is Carra actually called into TalkSport once and had a go st the presenter for criticism he received.
