Undoubtedly - he's scoring plenty of goals in an average team which makes him very valuable. If he receives a genuine offer from a top 6-8 side he probably wont be coming to NUFC, I'm not disputing that. I don't agree with Haslam though that we should regard ourselves as not attractive enough to poach players from other Premier League clubs. We have good evidence of our ability to sign players from (lower tier) Premier League teams, even at a point when we were in the league below.
. The problem these days is traditionally smaller clubs have vast amounts of money themselves and don't see why they should sell their best players to bigger clubs. If a player's contract is running down and the club want to cash in it's different, as is when an elite club offers silly money but we aren't in that position unfortunately.
Couldn't see why he would but maybe not as far fetched as some others. All of it comes down to money anyway. Anything is possible with money. Great time to sell if you are Bournemouth with the question being is this just a great run, or genuine step up by him. Good pedigree having been at Man U as a youngster
Before this season King had 12 goals in his career, a 24 year old striker, a professional footballer, paid thousands a week had scored 12 career goals now he has 16 this season everyone's looking at him, but he is a flash in the pan. I don't want to adopt the same transfer philosophy as Liverpool, A player does well for a season so they buy them! Carroll, Wijnaldum, Benteke, Rickie Lambert, Lovren, Ings, all had a good season then Liverpool sign them up for more than they are worth!
Fair point. On the other hand, after his first 3 seasons Shearer had managed a total of 10 goals . . .
Shearers first three seasons were in the early 90's as a teenager. Harry Kane also found it hard to score during loan spells at Norwich and Leicester and he came good, I get that players can come good, but for me at 25 years of age King would have to be one hell of a late bloomer to become a 15-20 goal a season striker for the next 4 years, personally I think he's just a player in a rich vein of form which will end next year
He's an Englishman scoring a moderate amount of goals, probably going for more than we're willing to pay
Lols, thankfully his Norwegian! will help a lot when it comes to price, no one pays loads for Norwegian players!
Personally I think it's harsh to say he is defo a one season wonder. There was this guy named Jamie Vardy once upon a time. He was a non league striker and then got a great move to Leicester City. Struggled in the championship in his first season, bagged loads in his 2nd season as they were promoted. Struggled in his first PL season, bagged loads in his 2nd season. In his third season he has done well again proving the doubters wrong who said he was a one season wonder. Even linked with Athletico Madrid. So let's at least let him fail in his second season before we write him off. The risk is high though. You either buy now and hope he backs it up. Or you wait and if he does it again then he's out of your reach and price bracket.
