I have been a big fan of his and supported him since he broke into the side and made giant strides. Some have been critical of his positioning, maybe not allowing for his lack of experince due to his age. His self belief in his own ability and the confidence in him shown by Martinez and his fellow players tells me all I needed to know....Plus his chipped penno in the pre season game against Juventus. But with him being tipped to possibly break into the WC provisional squad is a step too far in my opinion. His old caoching staff at Barnsley believe he will make the step. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/everton-sensation-john-stones-nailed-3380545 Other news outlets tip him for a call up, but personally they are just looking at all the good English players as the end of season nears. But if he keeps up his current performance levels.....?? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...to-Martinez-is-the-right-man-for-the-job.html But for me he needs another season of experience.
Not a chance. I've got no problem with him going with the squad for experience though. I'm sure Roy said he'll take some people even if they aren't in the squad to Brazil.
Far too early for him. He's got plenty of time ahead of him for an England career, but this summer? No chance.
Nobody is calling for him to go, just people who have worked with him tipping him for big things. I am cautious as he has less than a dozen starts so far
I knew of him before we signed him due to contacts at Barnsley. They were convinced he was going to make it an International level CB before he'd played CB in the Championship! The reason was not only is he technically a brilliant footballer, he's also got the temperament, attitude and intelligence to go with it.
I posted a link to the comments made by the Barnsley coaches before you name dropped...... We can't all be IKT like you are Tobes.
Gutted that he's out until the new year, just as he'd made the CB position his and was looking like a Rolls Royce of a player. Really bad luck that injury ffs
