Apparently PJ is meeting a player tomorrow to discuss a possible transfer to Ipswich.

Who could it be? One of about 30 names mentioned, hope its a decent striker though!!

If true Spanish, a quality striker would be a great start but, as you say, with so many names mentioned it's impossible to even have a decent guess.

I hope not bud!! I just hope people don't expect it to be Bothroyd as TBH i just can't see that happening. I would have thought it will be someone out of contract though, Nugent is a possibility and i wouldn't mind that at all.

I just hope it's someone that shows our intentions for the coming season and becomes a catalyst for other players to take note and think "hey, Ipswich are serious"

Totally agree San Diego, we need to get a big name (for this division) in that will help attract other quality players.

Would you rather signing someone for a big fee and low wages or getting an out of contract player on big wages?

Don't really care as i won't be paying for either, LOL!!

I guess if you sign someone for a big fee then that player is going to be a quality player and command a high wage, so in that case it would have to be a free agent with high wages.

We should be looking to build a side that can win the title in 2012-13. So we should really be looking at 3 year contracts and not worrying what happens after that.

It has to be a player who is without a club at present, otherwise we are breaching rules by meeting up with a player if no bid has been put through.

TWTD usually says when we have bids for players.

I think its K Dyer. Just been released by West Ham, it makes the most sense to me...

I would agree Westlake - except that we don't know there's not been a bid accepted.

My guess is that Belgian fella that we've been linked with or any of the out of contract players we've been linked with from MK Dons etc. or that striker from Brantham. The fact there has been no hint of an offer my guess is its someone out of contract and from lower leagues.

I agree, my guess would be Dyer. Mind you, I reckon, if it was a 'big' player, they would have chosen to meet somewhere other than Ipswich to avoid rumours of it getting out before signing, so perhaps it is someone much lower than we expect, Ollie Mann??

So which one of you will be heading to Portman Road / Playford Road this morning to find out?

I know that its rumoured we are set to sign Chops for £1m but that does not mean he is the man who will be at PR today!! Saying that, Chops for £1m would be a good bit of business and i would be happy if it was him, wouldn't pay more than £1m though!!

No doubt we will find out soon enough. Would actually prefer not to know at the moment given the history of getting hopes up before they are then dashed again!

Well if Clegg has got anything to do with negotiations then god help us! <yikes>

Knowing Clegg it will probably be Dyer! After all he said he wants to spend the rest of his playing days on our treatment table every week as opposed to travelling elsewhere!

    Ahh the sounds of summer!

    The call for hosepipe bans.
    The call of the cuckoo.
The gentle thwack of willow on leather on the village green.
And Town being linked with Chopra yet again. <laugh>
