Just watched Jerain Defoe's goals today - brilliant. Then I thought who was the best SKP or JD? I am probably going to be contreversial here but I think JD because SKP had a big striker Niall Quinn to work off whereas JD is playing up front by his self.
Both excellent strikers - Pop Robson was the only other that I would put in their bracket in my lifetime supporting Safc
This question comes up more and more and I always give the same answer. Phillips I felt was a more complete player but Defoe is the most clinical. If I have 20 minutes to go in a game and I need a goal Defoe would be the guy I'd bring on out of the 2. But we are talking about probably the best 2 players to grace our teams in the past 30 years and there isint a fag paper between them.
The guy deserves a thread every week man never mind every month. It has been done many times before as you say, but week by week he just keeps doing it for us and you can't help but make the comparison.
Possibly Quinn he had a hell of a touch for a big forward the other lads were good but imo not in the same league
Sorry lads didn't realise this was going over old ground - I will double check the threads going back the last month before posting in future
Oh I don't know about that mate. The G-Force were immense. Remember that play off semi with the horse punching scum?
12 goals and 14 is the best so far this season ! he was 33/1 to be top scorer about a week ago. Will have a £5 bet next week.
Not one of his off topics threads man He does love his comparison threads though, especially to the Reidy era. Not complaining, some of the best times of my life. Going to reidy's games that is, not reading Coms football threads.
If Defoe keeps doing what he's been doing for us for another 18 months then he's one of our most important players ever. Topping Phillips for me. Phillips played in an incredible team, did incredibly well and then took us down. Defoe keeps us up then he's played in a dogshit side and kept us up three years in a row. SKP is still ahead for me. 20-25 more goals and it's swung in SJD's favour.
