Best Driver: Worst Driver: Best Rookie: Best Team: Worst Team: Best Overtake: Most Surprising Result: Least Surprising Result: Funniest moment: Excuse of the week (up to and including the aftermath of the race): Special Mention: Best post from the race thread: Race Rating: ?/10 N.B. Following the Belgian Grand Prix, I proposed a new category to encourage readership as well as contributions. It included a poll which was voted upon by 18 people, the consensus of whom approved the idea of 'Best post from the race thread'; but there was also support for Miggins' amusing suggestion for 'excuse of the week'! Both are now included. P.S. I have no idea why 'Excuse of the week' is persisting as a link despite several attempts to force it into being ordinary text! Many thanks. c.
Haven't had a chance to watch the race yet so can't comment on the rest but surely the excuse of the week has to be "But they were fine when we put them on".
Best Driver: Hamilton was on fire Worst Driver: Rosberg was on fire Best Rookie: Verstappen Best Team: Ferrari Worst Team: Mclaren Best Overtake: ... Most Surprising Result: both lotus retiring on the same lap. Shades of Arrows Least Surprising Result: rosbergs engine blowing up Funniest moment: happy new year Excuse of the week (up to and including the aftermath of the race): Mercedes: tyre pressure was OK when we checked Special Mention: Vettel on the podium getting cheered wasn't long ago he was booed. Also the clever people at Mercedes for getting away with it again. Best post from the race thread: the Nicole Scherzinger smashed back door debate Race Rating: 6/10
Best Driver: Hamilton, unstoppable and unchallenged even with one flat tyre Worst Driver: Nobody of note - Rosberg gets a pass for his OAP engine. Best Rookie: Verstappen Best Team: Ferrari Worst Team: lotus Best Overtake: Verstappen Most Surprising Result: Hamiltons advantage Least Surprising Result: rosbergs engine blowing up Funniest moment: Button looking like he thought he was racing Excuse of the week (up to and including the aftermath of the race): Mercedes: tyre pressure was OK when we checked - Honest. Special Mention: Vettel on the podium, Kimi for his recovery and Button getting to the dusty heights of the top 10 in the opening stages. Best post from the race thread: the Nicole Scherzinger smashed back door debate, purely for its lack of taste and total irrelevance Race Rating: 4/10
Best Driver: Hamilton was virtually faultless all weekend and dealt with a peculiar situation towards the end of the race which might have caused consternation to many. Not understanding something – especially why an instruction is being given – can have a serious impact upon concentration. Worst Driver: Unusually, I feel unable to give this to anyone. Best Rookie: Verstappen. Best Team: In terms of improvement, Ferrari. Worst Team: McLaren should not be doing testing mileage during races. This season is perhaps the biggest embarrassment the Woking team has ever experienced; much worse than the doodlebug car of the early nineties. Best Overtake: Verstappen v Nasr around the outside into Turn 1. Most Surprising Result: Räikkönen's disastrous start. Then again, I have a suspicion he may have been at least partly responsible… Least Surprising Result: FIA incompetence under the leadership of Jean Todt. Funniest moment: Vettel's demand for Blue Flags. Excuse of the week (up to and including the aftermath of the race): Mercedes' excuse about tyre pressures, despite what I believe to be its legitimacy. The real culprit here however, is the FIA. After all these years, I still scratch my head at how readily this governing body overlooks the most obvious of consequences to its definitions and redefinitions… Special Mention: Jenson Button. He did a masterful job in an awful car. His valiant battle with Verstappen may have been futile in the long run, but it was hugely admirable. Best post from the race thread: Pie's apt reference to Pat Symonds' unintentionally ironic request for disqualification of Mercedes! Race Rating: 5/10
Best Driver: Hamilton, a faultless weekend, a grand chelem haha Worst Driver: No one really jumps out, good behaviour award Best Rookie: Verstappen did what he could Best Team: Relatively? Force India? Ferrari looked close to doing something to Worst Team: McLaren Best Overtake: Vestappen on one of the Saubers Most Surprising Result: Massa? Least Surprising Result: Williams done at the pits. Funniest moment: George Lucas and his incredibly random podium interview. May the farce be with him Excuse of the week (up to and including the aftermath of the race): Mercedes since it worked. Special Mention: Perez is on a roll, Vettel got what he could, Ericsson quietly shined. Best post from the race thread: I'm sure the best is to come Race Rating: 5/10 - Not much happening really.
Best Driver: Massa Worst Driver: Raikkonen - shouldn't be driving Best Rookie: Sainz Best Team: Force India Worst Team: Mercedes for proving they prefer Hamilton Best Overtake: There were overtakes? Most Surprising Result: I didn't fall asleep Least Surprising Result: Mercedes and the FIA are sleeping together clearly Funniest moment: The race was a joke, so that. Excuse of the week (up to and including the aftermath of the race): "We did nothing wrong" Special Mention: Perez, consistently outscoring Hulk this year, but nobody notices him doing it Best post from the race thread: N/A Race Rating: 0/10 - If you haven't watched it, don't. It competes with Abu Dhabi 2010 as the worst race of all time.
Best Driver: Hamilton, he made it look easy, although it probably was. Worst Driver: Possibly Kimi for his start, somebody hit somebody at the start, so maybe them, but no one really stood out as bad, maybe because both Lotus retired at the first bend Best Rookie: Verstappen Best Team: Ferrari Worst Team: McHRT Best Overtake: Verstappen Most Surprising Result: ermm, Kimi on front row? Least Surprising Result: One of the McLarens not making it Funniest moment: Excuse of the week (up to and including the aftermath of the race): So sorry Nico, it seems you have a contaminated engine. You'll have to fit an old, almost dead one. Special Mention: Vettel, Massa and Verstappen. Race Rating: 7/10, it's Monza, it gets points just for that, **** you Bernie
There's hatred in there? I could if you really wanted me to, but that was up there with the worst race i've ever seen. I'm almost tempted to say the FIA only put the investigation out to spice the race up as they knew it was terrible.
Best Driver: Sergio Perez. Everyone is nominating Hamilton, but when you're in the fastest car by miles and your teammate has a slower engine it's a failure if you don't completely dominate. Sergio is the the only driver who exceeded my expectations of him last weekend. Worst Driver: N/A. The were no real shockers and no really excellent performances this weekend. Perez won the above category by default. Best Rookie: N/A. See above. Best Team: Force India. Worst Team: McLaren Honda. Emphasis on the Honda. Best Overtake: Verstappen. Cant recall who he passed. Most Surprising Result: Mercedes DNF. Least Surprising Result: Mercedes win. Funniest moment: errr.... Excuse of the week (up to and including the aftermath of the race): Mercedes weaseled out of a DSQ so firmly the excuse of the week. Special Mention: Jenson Button's defending was admirable. Best post from the race thread: N/A I missed the thread so couldn't say. Race Rating: 2/10. Dull. Very little chance of excitement until the 2017 regulation changes. Merc are just too far ahead.
Best Driver: Hamilton Worst Driver: Nobody really, assuming Kimi wasn't fully responsible for his start. Best Rookie: None stood out Best Team: Ferrari Worst Team: Red Bull Best Overtake: Generally the battle in which Button lost two spaces. Most Surprising Result: was anything surprising? Least Surprising Result: Hamilton utterly comfortable Funniest moment: "Don't ask questions, just execute" Hamilton's race engineer must have watched the Hitman film recently. Excuse of the week (up to and including the aftermath of the race): Pirelli "all the tyres in Spa were cut, honest!" Special Mention: Rosberg for his humility, and cutting through Hamilton's BS after quali Best post from the race thread: Pass Race Rating: 4/10
I liked it , lots of overtaking , cards going their fastest , none of this saving fuel business. I just like the fact that no matter how good Hamilton drives , you won't ever admit it. In a changing world, its nice to have some certainties.
yeah, I don't like people who continually lie all the time. I bet you have a T-shirt with his face on it, and a poster of him on your wall.
