Would call him boring." http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36165503 Sam Allerdice as per usual, dropping the truth on the hypocrites, Its something we encountered with Jose for such a long time. I'm glad we are dodging that bullet and avoiding the chants of "boring, boring Chelsea", although i heard Conte is a stickler for a strong defensive shape too!
The guy is a football genius. I like him even more that he continues to **** off the footballing bodies by playing what they consider "the wrong way". I hope they do the double this season.
I was desperate for Atleti's double few seasons ago. But Real got disgusting luck in that final. Atleast they had la liga in the back then. This time around, for them getting CL is more likely than the La liga. Real vs Atleti will be anti-climax. I hope they meet City in the Final and beat them too.
I never really understood the view that football is played the "wrong way". Football is a very simple game, score more goals than your opponents. As the late great Brian Clough once said, "There are too many people that obsess with tactics, who couldn't win a game of dominoes". The right way to play is to beat your opponents, end of.
Agreed. Football is a simple game. I don't understand why people insist on making it so difficult. Pass, move, shoot.
Allardyce and Pulis get slated for identifying and then implementing the most effective way for their teams to win. Simeone gets applauded for doing the same thing.
I think Simeone's had a bit more to work with. Anyone who thinks Allardyce played negative football with Djorkaeff and Okocha in his team and finished sixth needs to think on!
Allardyce builds teams to get results, be they entertaining or dour. Pulis gets a perverse pleasure from making his teams awful to watch regardless of their success or lack of it.
I wouldnt agree. Palace were really dynamic under pulis, while stoke despite being direct were still a good watch. Wba are a **** team, playing **** footy, theres not much anyone could do with that team.
I'm not so sure. It certainly doesn't help that he's in a staring contest with the chairman over Berahino who is by far their most talented player being painfully misused to try and force the chairman to sell and give him more cash to bring in his agent's clients. Pulis can take a talented flair player and grind him down to a functional workhorse. Craig Dawson was a footballing centre-half in the lower leagues and he looks like he's going to **** himself when he crosses the halfway line now. He's brought in Sandro who is never fit and brought him on half a dozen times in the 89th minute which will trigger a permanent transfer (and presumably a slice of the pie for Pulis). He's dodgy but that's what you risk when you hire stopgap managers.
No, neither that Bolton team, nor this Atletico team played "negative" football. Not even sure what negative football means, its a stupid ****ing term, invented by bitter little **** rags. Nothing negative about winning.
Wasn't it Pulis that signed Rory Delap and that big striker Ricardo for Stoke? Seeing a Rory Delap unfeasably long throw in causing panic in defences was top entertainment and more often than not Ricardo would take advantage of the panic to smash in a goal. They did that a few times against us if I remember right.
