I said to myself that once I stopped enjoying the away games I will stop going until the Belgians f*** off. After last Saturday, that was the nail in the coffin. The Elf shall not be going again once the season finishes. "Just sell the club"
Elfs, don't do this. The football is a mere side show anyway these days, and by all accounts, it sounds like there was fun to be had in the pubs pre match. As a wise man once said to me during a relegation season, just keep the football content of the day to a bare mínimum. Alternatively, I suppose there are the delights of non league, but the quality of football there will only be marginally better than a Karl Robison style Charlton. Keep the faith
I walked out at half-time against Wimbledon, I barely watched the game Saturday. A total waste of time. South Park v Faversham this Saturday shall see the purple jacket.
If it's not fun then it isn't worth the money tbh. They moan about how expensive it is to sign players when they have £11mil in player sales - but expect us to follow and spend blindly. Doesn't work like that.
Me and my Dad, still season ticket holders, had a jokey conversation about what we'd do if we were relegated. Welling United was suggested as a viable alternative.
Brighton are much closer to me than Charlton. Crawley also, but could never watch another team on a consistent basis. Sitting in my y fronts, with a few bets, a bottle of whiskey and soccer Saturday is my current routine, and it will stay that way until Roland fecks off.
Don't be put off by the flak you are getting Elfs. And if you are, can you at least lend another fan your Green Slug Coat ?
The trouble is, watching a football match as a neutral is OK for a while, but 90 minutes becomes a very long time. I'm doing the odd game, but if I feel unable to take any more I'd probably do the odd trip to Kilmarnock.
Got a season ticket in north lower but only been to a handful of games and only done port vale away, Roland has fvcked me off so much I've done what I never thought I'd do, decide against going to football
