Unless people have the ability to teleport, it was always going to cost them something to get there. Based on the HDM comments, I suspect there's even people who'd go there and buy a pint for £3 and then claim they'd been robbed as it was supposed to be a free event (some dipshit on RH thought they ought to give everyone free food as well). If you live nearby, you can walk to the venue, all the 'I live in Sproatley and I'm not allowed to walk there' stuff is bollocks.
It's been badly managed. You can't tell folk it's free and then charge and admin fee and then Oh and by the way you have to use our transport at £13 per head. It's a lack of understanding of human nature - especially round here If it was the other way round and punters were told to start with - it's £21 per ticket including an admin fee and free transport then everyone would have said what a bargain !
They do that because they want to continue to promote it as the biggest free ticket music festival in Europe, even if that's not entirely accurate (Radio 1 get no money for the tickets, so as far as they're concerned, they're giving them away free. Only the ticket processing company get the money.)
I'd love to see the basis of the calculations for the transport cost. I'm guessing 35 35 35 taxis charge there and back on a week-end £60. Maximum occupancy per car 4 = £15 each Knock a couple of quid off to keep the punters happy = £13 each Bob's your Uncle.
On a normal day, he might take people to Burton Constable for £18, but on a day with 50,000 attending an event it could easily take him an hour each way and he'd never do it for £18.
Thought it was 25,000 a day, but I get your point. Mind you, there are no drop off points nearby for the taxis anyway, are there? It is the booking fee that gets me. How much work is there in processing a booking? 2 days at 25,000= 50,000 at £8.50 brings in £425,000. Nice work if you can get it.
The blacky was pretty pissed off to say the least! The bussing in has created a close shop and he spelt it out that the bus charge is nearly double when he could get 5 people in his cab for £36! The organisers said it was the only site that fitted their criteria!! I've been to loads of concerts and never been told how I can get there! #notthatimgoing
The ticket company don't get all that money, the funding of the stewards comes out of it, also something to do with disabled access.
Booking fees are a farce and are getting progressively worse. I remember years ago when my lads were still at school saying I would go down and get them tickets for some band they wanted to see at Brid Spa. The young lady told me the price of the tickets and said plus booking fee. I was rather surprised as I had bought tickets at the same venue including the Rolling Stones and never paid a booking fee even for events put on which weren't booked by the Spa and put on by someone else. And there was a booking fee for each ticket. The young lady was sat there dealing with other enquiries anyway but said it was the ruling they had to put this fee on to cover costs including postage. In that case I said that they could post them instead of new transporting them home. A bit unfair on her but I was fuming. Looking back the first band I recall where a booking fee was involved was the Levellers, those great anti-capitalist proponents of socialism who had more tatty junk at inflated prices on sale than at any time since the heyday of the .Bay City Rollers.
No, you could have just said, yes, you had got it wrong. Instead you ignore the point and try and score points about the booking fee including things like disabled access. (What is a reasonable return to handle someone purchasing a ticket?) An inability to concede you are wrong whilst quibbling with other people's posts is a trait of yours.
