I might be misremembering this, but in response to a question (So, Gordon, what about Southampton?) during an interview, after Utd had confirmed their place in the final, didn't Gordon Hill respond "What about Sarfhampton?" Made it all the sweeter when Rodrigues kept him in his pocket all afternoon. Wasn't he subbed as well? I don't know why, but I felt this was our year to go all the way. I was working for a company, where it was compulsory to work Saturday mornings, but so confident, was I, that we would reach the final, I looked at the fixture dates for the QF/SF and Final. To ensure being able to go I booked the time off, as early as the third round. Couldn't wangle the QF, but 2 out of 3 was okay.
Too young for 76 and 79. Been to all the rest, ZDS and 03 whilst still living in London. Travelled back for JPT and depart Melbourne on Thursday night in readiness for Sunday. 2 more work days, can't wait!!!
Only been to the JPT final and what a day that was, mixing with Carlisle fans, true football supporters. Can't make it Sunday but will support the saints at the 2018 fa cup final, 2018 charity shield, the 2019 fa and efl cup finals and the 2020 champions league final.
ZDS (old Wembley), FA Cup (Millenium Stadium) and JPT (new Wembley) for me. This one will be even sweeter as it's the first time at Wembley for a major trophy. Cardiff will always be special as I had spent years dreaming of singing Abide With Me, and what an atmosphere! We did ourselves proud that day so I know we will on Sunday......
I remember when they announced Abide With Me at Cardiff....it was as if I suddenly realised it was real whereas it had been a like a dream before.
I've been lucky enough to go to all of them plus the Community Shield against Liverpool. They were all good but to win takes it to another level.
Just the JPT final for me, so far. I wasn't yet a ST holder in 2003, and my Dad wasn't able to get me a ticket. Or so he has always claimed. I've always wondered if it had anything to do with the fact that his Dad wasn't able to get him a ticket to 1976. Make it some sort of perverse family tradition that the 14 year old Son stays at home.
