If you're into history, don't miss Siena. Much of it dates back to medieval times. The centre is a UNESCO world heritage site. If you're going to Florence anyway, it's not a million miles away.
Vegas we have covered with some trips to the Grand Canyon etc and other sites, we have booked a helicopter trip down there. Hawaii I think will be more about relaxing with some sites and LA seems to be the one with most to do by actually where we have the least time! Our next door neighbour has been giving us advise, he said universal studio is good. Would be interesting to hear your tips though
Had most of may in corfu, north east very nice.Off to Rhodes for september, never been before so fingers crossed!
My favourite places in LA are a bit off the beaten track. My friend owns a surf shop in El Segundo near LAX, so I tend to go there and surf the beaches at El Porto, but it's a bit industrial around there. Also spend a lot of time at Palos Verdes which is stunning. Right in the middle of LA, but feels like you're out in the country. The beaches around Portugese point and Inspiration point are the places to head to at Abalone Cove. If you get time, a trip down the coast through Orange County to Laguna beach, San Clemente and San Onofre are well worth it. If you like your beaches they are some of the best around in California. I tend to avoid Hollywood like the plague, but the Griffiths Observatory is well worth a visit because it has stunning views of the whole of LA. Also if you're in that area Santa Monica and the pier are worth a trip, but good luck trying to find somewhere to park ! Again if you have the time, head north to Ojai. It's a town around 2 hours north of LA. Real old California style, lots of dusty old pick up trucks and ranches. Great restaurants and shops. It's the place where the Movie stars head when they want to get their heads out of LA. I could go on .... If you want to venture further afield Yosemite National Park in the Sierra Nevada mountains is a life changing experience.
Try Cavtat in Croatia (it's a stones throw from Dubrovnik, 10 minutes up the road) as it's lovely and some great restaurants to eat in. Last time I was there the owner of Liverpool John Henry had his super yacht moored there, alongside the White Rose of Drachs - both worth at least £60m!
Strange one for me as I like the festival circuit as much as going abroad so it tends to push my holiday season back to September/October Going to a Holiday Village with the kids in Tenerife in September, all inclusive and kids entertainment. Meaning I can sit around drinking **** beer with a bunch of pissed up idiots, but the advantages are the kids don't pester me wanting ice cream and drinks all day as they can get whatever they want. Since having the kids I usually do something similar to the above every year. I'm also going to Jamaica in September to visit the Mrs family, we go every year and I although I love the place I'm past the stage of seeing it as a 'holiday'. That along with living there for 3 years a while back it's just become the norm. Still an amazing place though, but I'm just a local there really.
Was thinking more taking the van so it would be the lakes and countryside, rather than any of the cities or more 'tourist' spots. Would love Capri or Amalfi or places like Siena and Florence with her though. Never been to Roma, I have no idea why I haven't and it irks me.
You could try a nice walled city (small town to the rest of us) like Luca. Cheap flight into Pisa and you can get a train to Lucca for about £5 or hire a car. Its about 25km from Pisa or 25km from Florence right in the heart of Tuscany.
Cheers mate will give it a look. Dubrovnik's one of the places I've been looking at so anything around that region will be great.
