.....to arm all police? We are now living in very dangerous times, so to expect police to walk the streets of our cities and towns unarmed is in my view a very foolish approach to policing. Would we send our soldiers off to war with a truncheon and a tasar? No, so why ask our police to patrol the streets with such little personal protection?
Uzi is to Israeli or gangster style. Theres a reason the SAS use MP5. They are brilliant at everything. Perfect for the coppers. But for the bobby on the street anything is bettet than nothing.
I like the Israeli's. They take no ****ing ****. They do what's best for Israel, **** what the rest of the world thinks. That should be our mindset.
In the short term you'd probably find quite a few police resigning if that were to happen but I can see it happening in the next 5 to 10 years.
Me too! I've seen lots of stuff online today saying the same thing, that the Old Bill should at least carry a side arm. There were a number of serving officers agreeing too.
I just remember working with a guy whose brother was a cop in the met. Went on a week to Magaluf with them and 30 other cops. They're ****ing insane by the way when they let rip. There was a discussion first day there because most of them had been in weapons training shortly before that and 10 of them said they would quit before having to wear a gun. The biggest argument was they joined for a career and to, genuinely, serve the public. Not to kill people. It's not for everyone Comm. I know you're ex-forces but not everyone is built that way mate. I think a lot of police would quit if it became statutory. Still think we're a few years away though.
Times are a changing mate. Far to quickly. Not for the better. For their own safety alone they should carry
If there'd been loads of guys carrying the other night, can you imagine the loss of life, most of them beered up? It would have been carnage Comm. But no from me. G'night
