Hanley and Mbemba being linked with loan move's??? Sounds like the press making up stuff on the basis neither of them are getting much playing time. I'd rather lose Hanley than Mbemba having said that, and I think Townsend is free to leave now Palace signed Van Aanholt.
One or the other leaving would be fine, both is a massive risk. Mbemba I'd be more interested in holding on to long term, since I think Hanley will be found out in a big way in the PL.
Mbemba should be playing every game, his confidence is shot to pieces and he hasn't been managed well at all. For all his plus points, Rafa is failing in a couple of areas, Mbemba being one of them. I like Hanley too, I actually think he is a better defender than Lacelles, but the latter is club captain and sometimes getting games despite his form not being the greatest. With the current squad size, we should probably only be letting one cb go, Mbemba to Palace for rest of the season to play PL football and to get Townsend in makes the most sense. But there should be no option for palace to buy Mbemba, this might be whats holding up any potential deal
Maybe it would be best to loan Mbemba? He is not getting a game and loaning him to a PL team would surely be beneficial long term wise.
Yeah, if we kept Hanley and it was a loan til the end of the season that makes sense. What we don't need though is Clarke injured, Lascelles suspended and suddenly it's Findlay and Dummett at CB for a couple of matches. It could drop us into the playoffs.
I can't see Mbemba and Hanley going. We can probably cope with one. I think Mbemba should be starting so fine with Hanley going.
Same here - bit surprised he didn't play on Sat bearing in mind how long Good has been out Hopefully we can loan Hanley to Wolves - if we get promoted he can go permanently - we'd need a big step up for the Prem
I personally think that Mbemba has been woefully mismanaged. Our best defender by a mile and should be playing every game.
We don't know what goes on behind closed doors though do we? I'd agree with what you say but Rafa has broadly speaking managed the other players really well. Shelvey was getting left out at the start of the season and he responded to that challenge from Rafa and he's the heartbeat of the team now. I have to say I think the fact that Lascelles was made captain has meant he's been more likely to play and it's kept Mbemba's appearances down, although in terms of being vocal and leadership Mbemba is like a wet fart so maybe Lascelles is justified in his selection for what he adds in that respect?
