Watching the latest sad events in London and got to thinking is it time for us to have a "right to bear arms" law similar to the US. I know we pride ourselves on the live and let live philosophy but is it time that we take an individual right to defend himself/herself and family? Obviously there are pro's and con's to this but it would be interesting to hear thoughts on this (without the knee jerk preferably)
In a word, no. Guns and our drinking culture would be a ****ing recipe for disaster for one. There's so many more reasons too.
Agree with you here it throws up loads of arguments just thought it would be interesting to hear thoughts on this - looking at last night there probably would have been a lot less casualties if these 3 c**ts were whacked earlier.
Or more cos people with a belly full of beer might have panicked like **** and went on a rampage firing shots all over the ****ing shop? Maybe even directed at any muslims they see... Quite simply, the more weapons on the street, the more they will be used and the more dangerous the streets would be. Complete non starter - well all in my opinion of course
I would say no but an earlier post asked if all our police should be armed and unfortunately I am beginning to think they should be. Unless the govt have a plan, and I dont think they do, to deal with whats happening now and on a regular basis then if they cant defend us and the police are not given the tools they need to defend us including weapons then anarchy will happen. We are mostly an educated race but you hit a point when enough is enough. People will begin to take the law into their own hands.
We have enough unhinged pissheads and smackheads out and about on a weekend beating the **** out of each other and innocent bystanders, without adding to the problem by letting them carry small arms, so it's a no from me!
Your last sentence is what worries me. How long are people going to refrain from becoming vigilantes, or worse still riots up and down the country? It's got to be a concern for the government.
if this was 120 years ago yea, but it's not plausible whatsoever to introduce legal firearms into our society now there should be more armed police but legal firearms would make terror attacks worse, there's a reason terror attacks in uk haven't involved guns.. it's ****ing hard to get them, especially rifles and ak47s used in france etc
God no! 30,000 shot dead in America. Every year. About 2 and a half thousand a month or 600 a week. If you've got them you use them. This is an amazingly peaceful country for 99% of us. Let's keep it that way.
God no. No no no no. It's just a **** attitude to install into socioty imo. Unless you're got a criminal record or an illness preventing there nowt stopping everybody getting a gun anyway. But walking the streets with em? We're not american and it's not quite mad max just yet. For me. Police needs reform, it needs more funding, it needs numbers, it needs more dogs, they need a whole new level of infrastructure installing on internet operations in conjuncture with counter terrorism, and most of all they need to be armed. Not us.
Half this Country cannot be trusted putting a ****ing wheelie bin out, they will all have their lemming moment tomorrow talking about what the press has told them the best TV. Give them a gun, could be awkward and embarrasing..
Armed police is a different prospect to the halfwits down the job centre carrying magnums like dirty harry.
