and it really is ground breaking... http://www.leedsunited.com/news/20110609/summer-makeover-for-united-surface_2247585_2373732
I am not trying to be a wum here but I am really surprised how out of date the current system is - Early 1970's? To be honest, despite the age of the current system I never thought your pitch was too bad, compared to some others at least and hence my surprise
Kasper said its the worst pitch he has ever played on and the player simply cannot keep their feet on it. Glad it is being changed, saves our players looking like they are playing football in greased slippers on ice half the time.
This is what Uncle Kenny has been spouting on about. The facilities at the ground are archaic because of the neglect by previous regimes (We all know who he's referring to)!!
It's only the sprinkler system that's from the early 70s. I can't really imagine the advancement in sprinklers systems has been that great since then.
Kasper's played in League Two, he's talking complete rubbish if he thinks our pitch is worse than at places like Hereford and Accrington. New pitch and sprinklers will be nice though, suits our passing, attacking play and means hoofers like Barnsley will hopefully find it harder to get results at ER.
He said it on Twitter. Its alright having grass but if you fall over each time you turn its not much good is it, he was even worried about taking goalkicks as it just gives way beneath you so he says. L2 grounds might be threadbare but at least you can stand up on them. Rememeber when Chapman blamed the ground giving way beneath him in our first home match back in Div 1 against Man U back in 1990? Missed a more or less open goal that would have been the winner!
Well I think the pitch should be left with the undersoil on it, we cant pass for sheet, we love the long ball to Gradel so lets sabotage the oppositions ability to pass
It must just have been me imagining the run of games from October to February where we played neat passing football nearly every game which got us safe in the playoff positions and got us the most goals in the League only to be outscored at the last minute by Norwich when our players were tiring.
I think Nasri and Fabregas mentioned the pitch after Arsenal played us. I wouldn't believe them, but if Kasper has said it, it's probably true. Not been updated since the 70s? That's poor. But watch Ken Bates say that we don't have any money to spend on players because we've improved the pitch.
Crikey Ken has spent some money at last a few bags of grass seed and some new hosepipes, exciting eh! makes you wonder what will come next, a new lawnmower maybe, and you were questioning why your season ticket prices were so high,, well theres your answer,
Hope for your sakes that that seed starts growing soon or you wont be able to take your pigeons to home games!!
