I understand your sentiment and, to a point, I agree; but is it really cruel?

Would they exist without this outlet for their natural desire to run and jump?

I do wonder, just like Triathletes, how many would do it if they had a choice. My guess is, a hell of a lot. It's the nature of the beast; why do we presume they are any less aggressive?

I know my questions are open for criticism, but do we balance the deaths with the lives, fun and pampering?

If only Mr Ed could be around to offer his opinion; would it be an aye or a neigh?

Male horses have their nuts cut off for a reason as they certainly wouldn't go running and jumping round a field. They'd rather be shagging all the time.

I don't notice horses in fields hurtling over fences and hedges in their spare time, and the jumps on racecourses are considerably higher than the ones separating fields (I have stood next to jumps and they are more like brick walls!)
I think the small person sat on their back urging them on makes them jump higher jumps they would choose to for fun. Also you'll have noticed when the small person falls off they tend to run round the jumps instead

And to use your slightly weird analogy, I wouldn't bet on triathalons either if 160 triathletes died in one year in triathlons in the U.K. (Which is how many racehorses died due to racing accidents in 2014)

I'm not parading with banners asking for it to be stopped, but I won't be adding to bookies profits by betting on it.

    I've helped geld a horse
I held its legs open with a pick axe handle while the vet chopped its bollocks off, and then threw them into a bush for the birds to eat

When he got up the first thing he did was go and mount a female horse, and you could tell the moment when he realised that he didn't know what he'd done that for!

    That's something else I won't do anymore either...never felt so evil !

Aye, a wierd analogy, but we all do extreme things; why is it that only we humans are qualified to enjoy it?

What you're talking about is guilt and conscience; well, in my opinion it is.

What did you think of the Pony Express, Dray Horses, or Nick Skeltons fine steed? Health and Safety is great, but the little man on the horses back takes chances; just like a boxer, F1 driver, Steeplejack, Trawlerman ...

... or, perhaps, just like turkeys, the horse would vote for Xmas.

Not sure what your point is?

Little bloke does take chances, and they often get injured, but lots of horses die due to the chances the humans choose to take

It's not something I'll bet on, that's all

like a f1 driver? **** off <laugh> f1 driver is driving a extremely fast vehicle
a jockey is sitting and hitting a horse, jockey injuries make me smile very much

any sport that uses animals is a ****ing **** sport

people say they hate bull fighting but i say no difference between horse racing

the ONLY reason horse racing is still around is because it makes bookies millions and so chavvy ****s can go for a 'raceday'

you're acting like they are machines

'what would you do with horses'

i wouldn't let little jockey ****s ride em to their death. that's what i'd do

what would you do with bulls?

no sport should involve horses.. how you even dare compare a jockey to a f1 driver.

They're not machines. They're big animals that either need big space or organised management around man. What would you do with them?
