    This Saturday at 5:15.

Anybody got any tips for who to back? And don't say Bradley Lowery, nice gesture though it is to put him on the race card.

I'm going to have a look at the runners and form tonight and narrow down the options.

I'm quite sweet on Rogue Angel at 20/1 to be honest. All he does is jump and stay but that is a good thing in these races. I've long thought he would win a big staying chase on these isles and Mouse is as cute as they come at getting them positioned just right in the handicap.

At 12yrs old Raz De Maree shouldn't really be winning a national. There should be more potential in the 8-10 yr old bracket. But I thought it was pretty interesting to see him running so well since October, he has form in the National and he stays. A drop of rain would bring him even more to the fore, and Cromwell interestingly enough chose to run him in a hurdle to protect his chase mark for this but maintain his race fitness. At 40/1 I think he represents good value.

Ucello Conti is of interest too. Again he has form in the National. He looked a non stayer last year as he got tired late on. However its worth noting that his master trainer Gordon Elliott had only had him since the December and ran him 3 times before the National. you have to remember National wins are often a year in the making with a trajectory towards arriving there in April carefully mapped over the whole season. His jockey Daryl Jacob has been travelling back and forth to Ireland to ride him. I think he must go well at 20/1.

Three from Ireland but I must stick one in from home. Vieux Lion Rouge looked a non stayer over marathon 4m trips last spring admittedly. He has only ran twice this year and won both. He has long been aimed at this and while the non stays last spring will put some off, I don't think he lets anyone down come Saturday. I think he has improved, is a fresher horse this time round, will love the ground and I think naysayers underestimate how much improvement a staying chaser can derive from 7yr old to 8 yr old. 11/1 is as short as you want for a National but he is justifiably so in my opinion.

If any of you are Bet365 account holders they have a decent offer on for National bets.

I've got one for you for the national

    DUSTY RUG

    Never been beat.

If not try FOUNDATION. You can put your house on it.

    Or CREOSOTE, great over fences.

LEAKY TAP has a chance, but only if its running.

V-NECK its always been a good jumper

I was going to back ITCHYFANNY at the Grand National, but that’s been scratched!!

Your granddad rode the winner of the Grand National.
He got 3 years for bestiality.

IRONING BOARD, put your shirt on it.

    BetFredor.
It's not good that for predicting odds on future races but it can tell you who won 200 years ago if you want to check the form guide. <ok>

I looked into it; seems like Bet Fredor's data is corrupted. According to that website, racing stopped about 50 years ago and everything before then was won by people from a place called Wearside.

So far gone with a couple - Rogue Angel (sound reasoning by Hank and I do like Mouse), and Vicente (Nicholls has him marked).

In the shorter odds, I'm interested in Ucello Conti and More of That; will probably relent and stick £50 on one of them before it starts. Chances are, with the going so unusually good, it's favouring the favourites. That said, Aintree's been a bit weird so I do have one eye on Wounded Warrior and Gas Line Boy. But it's the National, you probably get as good a chance sticking a pin in.

Something about that horse. I mean, it destroyed Rule The World around 15 months ago! It's seemed lazy, but sometimes it's all smoke and mirrors because if you win THIS one, it's done. At 66/1 it's worth a quid, if nothing else!!

Blaklion is probably my pick with an each way on Highland Lodge. Going looks likely to be good.

With the National it will probably be a cavalry charge at the start and then depends on whether going is too good and horses go out too fast or not. If so could be a lottery.
