RIP to former Wurzels midfielder Gerry Gow. I can remember, in my youth, many battles between him and City players Ian Gibson and Mel Sutton both at Ninian and Trashton Gate. Great memories. RIP.
I also remember The Flying Mullet getting stuck into tackles with Psycho and Gibbo duing the seventies. Didn't hold back and gave the wurzels some bite in midfield that rivalled Psycho at his hardest.
Enjoyed watching him for the wurzels when they were in the old div one. They had some real gutsy players back then- Merrick, Tainton, Sweeney plus some quality - Collier, Whitehead, Mabbutt and the old boys Hunter, Cormack, Cooper, Royle.
In the spirit of friendly rivalry it would be the right thing to have a minute's applause in his memory Friday night. 375 appearances for the Wurzels over 11 years is one hell of an achievement - average of 34 games per season. How many of today's overpaid primadonnas can say they are able to do that?
RIP Gerry Gow a hero and gentleman of my younger days, a great thanks to all you Taffy boys, a bunch of good sport's people...
