According to Sky Sports News we absolutely battered Birmingham in the second half right up to the last of the 6 minutes added on. They (Brum) parked the proverbial bus and we failed to breach it - but if Jeff Stelling and co can be believed we certainly didn't roll over. Sky also commented on some of the referee's decisions against us as being 'dubious'. We were undone by conceding a poor goal in the first half which Brum defended with their lives.
From the sounds of it Clayton Donaldson was flopping round like a fish out of water for the last 10 minutes or so and the ref bought it every time. In the circumstances Brum were always going to sit back and waste time - unfortunately the goal we conceded led to that; if it were 0-0 going into the latter stages then they would've been throwing everyone forward.
Oh come on, if survival depended on the Birmingham game it would have been a completely different game
I couldnt go as was doing Bristol 10k but my son went who will always give an honest assessment- Much as what has already been posted- Soft goal given away. Brum lumping it forward to a guy that kept falling down and the ref bought it each time. Heard ref was poor overall. Poor first half has happened several times to us this season. Worth a point overall.
As much as I like Flint, the goal we conceded sums up his weaknesses to me. His pace is average, but more worryingly than that, his balance seems to go against tricky strikers, meaning he often gives them the chance to get a shot off, or concede free-kicks and penalties. His other qualities, in particular his prowess in the air (at both ends of the pitch) probably just about makes up for it at this level, but if someone does turn up with a bid of £5m+ it'd certainly be worth a conversation at least, what with Magnusson in waiting...
Perhaps the ref had a tenner riding on Forest, Brum and Blackburn to all win but Blackburn to go down?
