Off Topic Fried Mushrooms

If I were to say "fried mushrooms" would that make anyone think "liver".

Would you say there is a strong word association between mushrooms and liver? Like strawberries and cream?

I tend to think liver and onions... But would it be crazy for someone to word associate liver with mushrooms? Specifically fried mushrooms.

Traditionally mushrooms have no place in that British classic dish but I put those small brown Crimini mushrooms in mine. I think the earthy taste compliments the liver bacon and onions.

 

That would be Chianti and beans. I.love Chianti but don't like liver.

I wonder if I need to ask in an American forum. Never seen anyone eat liver here..
I wonder if they prepare it differently.

When my mum used to make us eat it as kids it was always liver in some brown sauce (not sure what was in the sauce) over rice... But mum is Eastern European, maybe that's an Eastern Europe thing.


If someone said mushroom.to me I would immediately think steak and mushroom pie... But again trying to figure out something a yank said and they don't really eat savoury pies in yankland.

 

Fava beans but I didn't know how to spell fava so I just said beans....

What about the 'magic' variety?

 

I love mushrooms. Flavour more than the texture, but cut them up fine and they add a nice flavour to almost anything. They're very versatile. Pasta, meat, vegetables, quinoa, casseroles, great added to most things.

 

Never tried them, but recently read that they are THE safest drug you can take if you're worried about side effects (or even death). Safer than weed even. Impossible to get addicted to mushrooms too because you quickly build up an immunity to their effects if you take too much too frequently.

 

Onions are the kings

Onions in some oil, chicken liver and fry.....sprinkle a bit of coriander on it a minute before serving.

Easy peazy

 

Unless you take the mushrooms that can kill you!
Liver ? no self respecting person should be eating that ****...it tastes offal
