His last ever gig (I think), played to an audience of invited comics, was on over Christmas and is still available on iplayer I think. I really enjoyed it.
An audience with..... A great series of shows but the Monkhouse one was a standout. I saw a variation on one of his gags yesterday and I nearly messed myself: "My dwarf girlfriend left for work in a really bad mood today. She was upset at my constant jibes at her size. So, tonight I am pulling out all of the stops to cheer her up. I'm cooking her favourite meal, I've got a bottle of her favourite red wine, I've got a DVD boxset of her favourite show and, once she's relaxed, I'm going to pop upstairs and run her a lovely deep, hot sink"
This wasn't "An Audience with..." it seemed like something he arranged himself. Funny, a bit sad and some good stories about older comedians. The "Audience with..." shows were generally very good though. I remember Ken Dodd was brilliant in his.
How embarrassing is this for Jose? Unbelievable decision on a professional level but I guess his bank balance will rocket and that's all he and his agent are interested in. Such a shame to see him drop that low
Fonte now 4/11 to go to West Ham. The mind boggles. Leave the club you've spent the best part of 7 years with who aren't ever really going to be competing for silverware but where you've earned legend status to go to a club also challenging for very little for a year and a half, two years leaving behind said legend status. Not really the move he was hoping for I'm going to guess, expecting another season of cryptic photos of Premier League trophies on Instagram then. Disappointing end to a great Saints career, if that is how it transpires.
Jinxx is very reliable. My ex was a West Ham fan and I always had to check for transfer info for her. Jinxx was always the one giving transfer info.
If it's true what this guy says on saintsweb, about players having no time for Eric Black, I can't believe a business as big as Southampton, allow this to continue. If this was going on at my work, I would nip this in the bud asap. I would rather get rid of the bad egg, than lose several members of staff. Better to replace 1, than several?
If it does happen, we should be asking, how our club captain has become so dissatisfied at the club and how relations with him and the Club have deteriorated. Perhaps his agent has had an influence, however it does seem a bit odd and perhaps we should worry a bit about how we are handling things if our players are becoming unhappy.
So far it is one player. If we start getting more info on other players not getting on with Black (I mean named players) then I will agree. But Fonte has wanted to leave since he won the Euro Cup with Portugal, so doubt he even met Black by then.
I'm not sure about the actual time line, but I suspect it was a combination of doing well in Europe and finding that yet again a manager left because he could get more money to spend elsewhere. He may not get on with Puel and Black (who knows), but he was pissed off right at the beginning of the season, so his decision must have been made during the summer.
