Big game tomorrow night and I am hoping we get a result. It would be great to get to the semi's of the competition which we won back in 1972. It will be a tough game though and the outcome may depend upon the team David Moyes picks (and MH of course). Utd often play a 'weaker' team in this competition but as the prize is a semi-final coupled with the fact that the PL title is unlikely this season he may select a stronger side. If we play as we can though we can do it. Any news yet about our team selection yet?
Villa tomorrow. Not sure what to think the score will be. Shawx is injured and Ireland is not allowed to play.
Good win, claiming back to back wins. I was at a Stevenage game so wasn't able to watch updates, my Dad said that the BBC described it as a 'scrappy' game with loads of bad tackles and poor goals.
Watched the highlights on MOTD and we were better second half and could have got a third but for Crouch hitting the post. What was Pieters doing with that header for Villa's equaliser? A great 3pts however the BBC want to describe the game. 10th position looking good
I shall be at SJP on Boxing Day to support the mighty Potters. I will be with my son-in-law amongst the Toon supporters but cheering on the lads. How many Stoke fans are making the trip? It will be a tough game as Newcastle are playing well at the moment but there is no reason why we shouldn't have a go at them as confidence should be high after yesterday. UTP
Proud Potter I was partying last night, so didn't get chance to post a comment. As you said, a great win in that it moves us into the top 10, for now at least. 2nd half were excellent and Villa we're almost the same as we we're first half. Conditions were not ideal but for me, Couch, Whelan and Pieters, despite his error had a good game. Adam and Pennant made a massive difference and it could have been a couple more with some luck. I think MH now knows his best team but for me, Arnie and N'Zonzi were very poor. Non the less a great win 3pts and we move onwards and hopefully upwards. IF we continue our for at home, a top 10 finish is on the cards. We collapsed under Pulis after Xmas last season. I honestly can not see us doing that this year. Hughes won't let it slip and CREDIT to HIM for where we are now, given are pretty poor start and difficult fixtures.
Not sure who the winner today will be, Newcastle are in form, but so are we. They are at home. I think we the Spurs game will be a 1-1 draw or 2-1 home win
We were cruising and creating chances until whelan got sent off, the ref and whelan are a disgrace, i never want to see whelan in a stoke top agsin. With 11 men we would have won 2 or 3 nil i have no diubt
Well the transfer window is only 6 days away, so this might be a late christmas present! (His departure)
Maybe he did but if shows the difference between him and Begovic. We still seem to have that uncanny ability to self implode.Whelan is a muppet, but more so Wilson, better to be 1-1 with 10 men than 0-1 with only 9 and conceding a penalty. Sometimes being disciplined is more important than the result on the day.
Begovic is going to be out for upto 6 weeks. Doesn't look good for the upcoming fixtures. Sure Tommy can play well, but he is in the shadow of Begovic.
