Anyone genuinely excited about this throw of the dice? Could all go pear-shaped and very quickly but just think of it, a complete sea change in personnel and therefore tactics and mindset. A throw from left field, a shot in the dark. Only time will tell but sorry and all as I am for Mick, I think the change was needed right now and what a change. Are we going to see Portuguese & Brazilian starlets coming our way - is this our entry into the Latin sphere of football players and styles? Exciting times - not so long ago it was the likes of Parky from Colchester, today it is a guy who managed Sporting Lisbon & Olympiakos.
if he was appointed in the summer yes but not particularly, it's going to be a miracle by him if he keeps us up
No one should feel sorry for MP! He knew he was taking a risk working for these clowns and I'm sure he'll be well compensated? He had no experience and was always gonna be on borrowed time.
Well tbh we were fkd if we'd have kept Phelan .. ever decreasing circles and all that ... at least we may get the chance to experience something new and exciting .. I'm hopeful without having anything solid to back it up .. Silva's track record at other clubs albeit in foreign leagues is mightily impressive .. he has had the foresight to bring his team in with him right from the off so he appears shrewd .. so a big yes I am looking forward to this next chapter and hope this man is as good as his previous record suggests
A relegation fight is exciting? A bit like biting your arm off, then eating it and saying that was nice...
I might have been slightly more enthusiastic if he had been appointed as a Manager rather than a Head Coach. Phelan was dealt a bad hand in the summer but he chose to take it. Hopefully Silva will be given more to work with. Still, I'll be very impressed if he keeps us up.
if silva keeps us up, he's going to be seen as a genius and he will have a unbelievable managers record after that
My cup is not so much half full/half empty, but it has gone from 5% full to about 7% full. So yes, this appointment has given me grounds for cautious optimism.
I was wondering if this was related to a possible takeover. That is, he would become manager if and when a takeover happens. The Allam's clearly don't want to handover too much control to a manager, and so this arrangement suits both parties. Probably bollocks but a reasoned guess!
I won't get excited or hopeful until the Allams do one. And even then I will cautiously watch the new owners to see what they're made of.
I really hope your theory is correct - like Walter says above, I can't see myself developing much optimism or excitement until the Allams **** off completely.
It will definitely affect some, I suspect there's quite a lot of people who won't want to miss Silva's first game in charge.
