So here it is first post! . . . How exciting So as i'm sure many of you have, i've been looking around the players being released from around the Football League and scouting out potential Gills targets for the summer. Have just seen that Febian Brandy is set to be released by Martin Allen at Notts County (http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12874_6936379,00.html). What do you guys think? He looked good while on loan with us couple of seasons ago, and could pair up well with Akinfenwa. Or is he too overated, can't score for love nor money and Cody McDonald would be a much better use of our tight budget.
Hi Blueandblackarmy, He probably wouldn't want to come to us, if he did he would want high wages, and I'm not sure that he is strong enough for a full season in league 2. So that means he'll probably sign next week.
Yeah no idea what sort of budget we have for a striker nor what Brandy would be asking, wouldn't be surprised if we offered him a trial though or maybe a 6 month rolling contract and see how he does. Will no dount be an interesting summer for us though, plenty of comings and goings! Hessy couild be a busy man.
I think the assumption that we won't be able to afford both Brandy and Cody is spot on. Especially when/if you add bayo's wages into the mix. I think we need to see who agrees the new deals first as i don't think Brandy would come knowing he would be on the bench behind bayo and cody. Saying that, imagine a front free of Cody, the big man and Brandy!!
Yeah could well be right, any guesses on how much Norwich will be asking for for Cody? Hopefully get some sort of idea this week on just who signs new deals and who doesn't. And haha doesn't sound too bad that!
If the likes of Barcham, Weston, Palmer are all going to be in the team, we need someone with strength and fight to do the dirty stuff they can't. Last season we often looked like the boys playing the men.
In all honesty, from what I saw of Brandy, I don't think he was that good. Yeah he had a good touch and scored the odd goal but he could easily go a game without being involved at all and was being pushed off the ball way to easy. I don't think he would come to us anyway but he's not a replacement for Cody.
