Sunderland Transfer News: Fabio Borini to go, Brady and Jagielka lined up 19JAN Genoa and Napoli are both keen on the striker, who joined the Black Cats from Liverpool 18 months ago after a previously successful loan stint on Wearside. But Borini has been a big disappointment under Moyes this season, scoring just one goal since coming back from injury eight games ago. The Sunderland boss wants to bring in at least two players this month and has targeted Norwich winger Robbie Brady and Everton veteran Phil Jagielka. But while owner Ellis Short has loosened the purse strings, Moyes will have to raise some funds himself and must also trim the wage bill.
I am not surprised at this as he has never really produced many good performances during his periods here and he is losing out to Anichebe and Januzai in the selection stakes. More recently he does not look interested in fighting for his place or at least impressing the manager.
Undecided on this one, he hasn't really been at the races since he got back into the side, I love his attitude and work rate but he doesn't score enough goals to take the pressure off Defoe. If we got a decent price then I might be tempted to let him go despite our numbers crisis.
He's been awful this season but has been fantastic for us otherwise. Big game player who's pulled us out the **** more times than I can remember. Always instrumental in Derbies and one hell of a grafter. If he goes I'll be sad to see him leave.
He's still only 25... If you actually need to sell one of your better first team players (sorry but Januzaj does not deserve to be ahead of him in the team) to fund the purchase of a 34 yr old defender then times really are ****ing tight. I just hope Moyes doesn't panic into doing transfer business because "something has to change", with players in from the treatment table I think you've got enough to survive.
Jag will cost peanuts fella. Sounds like he and Brady would be funded if the press are to go by. I imagine Borini be sold to bring in a CM as we need one desperately or Snodgrass as a direct replacement. I think Snodgrass is a better player personally. Just love Fabio.
This is what I find odd- a player in Brady's position shouldn't really be a priority. If there's money to spend on Brady, that money would be better spent on a central midfielder. Unless of course he's planning on playing Brady centre mid.
I would say at this moment in time a CM is our biggest priority. Maybe it's a case of waiting for targets to become available? ACON will be stalling so much movement. Maybe we're just moving for our targets as an when it's possible to have our bids accepted. If that's the case it would give me heart that there could be 3 or 4 coming in. After looking at the fixtures and how they line up with dates, after the weekend, transfers should start flying all over.
Teams will start tumbling out soon, should get things moving. Like houses aren't they? Transfers. You get caught up in chains
Longest spell in the Premiership. **** knows how as most transfer windows seem to go badly but here you are, still scrapping away. Something seems to, on some level, be working.
Be disappointed if Fabio goes like but if it means we can strengthen there's only Pickford and Defoe I wouldn't sacrifice to give us some hope.
Dont rate him to be honest. Foes some awesome **** but is too inconsistent. You can't live off energy alone in the premier league. That said... We better have someone lined up to take his place.
He's been ****e this season, but he's not alone there in that department. Is he alone going to keep us up? Nope. Would the replacements if they were Brady/Jag? We'd stand a better chance IMO. Will be sad to see him go at the same time.
