I call it a fiasco because someone’s been sitting on their hands since September; and with the outcome due to be announced on 6 May, the day before the last game of the season, time's so short that not one of the top seven clubs will have a clue where they stand until then.

AND that’s provided that our club are happy enough with the decision(s) made and choose not to appeal.

If there is to be any significant appeal, then we and those other clubs, the FA and the Football League are probably all in really deep do-do promotion-wise.

Appeals usually have to be lodged within a certain timeframe and a Hearing date set. At the very least that would take two weeks (often more like months, all told).

Our last game is on Saturday 7 May and the first leg of the play-off semi is either Thursday or Friday, 12 or 13 May - just one week after the announcement of the Inquiry panel’s decision.

How many, if any points are deducted? Are we in the play-offs or not? Are Rangers happy with the decision(s) made or will they appeal? What happens if our appeal is upheld but we’ve been knocked out by the second leg of the play-offs on either Monday 16 or Tuesday 17 May? OMG!

Surely the FA must’ve come up with an answer to avoid all this - but at the same time one that placates the other clubs who it could be said were disadvantaged by the presence of Ali Faurlin; and also one that deters others from doing the things Mr Paladini is alleged to have done.

What I’d like to find out is precisely what people here think the Inquiry will decide after the first Hearing - to prevent the need for the Rs reps to screw things up by appealing against what they would see as an unacceptable decision?

If you’re up for it, have a gander down the options below - and reply with your opinion on total fine and/or points deduction that keeps everyone happy.

    Total Fine

    A - Zero
    B - Less than £1m
    C - £1m - under £5m
    D - £5m - under £10m
    E - £10m - under £25m
    F - £25m - under £50m
    G - £50m or more

    Points Deduction

    A - Zero
    B - Less than 5 points
    C - 5 points
D - More than 5 points but less than 10
    E - 10 points
F - More than 10 points but less than 15
    G - 15 points
    H - More than 15 points

    --------------------------------------------------------

    My guesses would be:

    Total Fine - E (about £15m)
    Points Deduction - E

It will be a fine around 250,000.
We would have to sell One Size or Hulse if it was your option F or G.

I'm gonna stick my neck out and say:

    B
    A

A fine of around £1m....so long as we lose the case. (We may well win it? You never know!!), and no points deduction.

It doesn't make sense to leave it to the last weekend of the season to make a decision that could have serious implications at the top of the division.

I know that that is the FA's way, but I don't believe we'll get tucked up.

    (Though who can forget Swindon????)

    ^ This.

There's more at stake for the FA than for us, in some respects. Their main area of concern is going to be credibility. Any decision they make that materially affects their ability to draw a line under the 2010-2011 Championship season after the play-off final will cause far more issues than the alledged offences. It's purely gfor this reason that I really don't believe a points deduction will happen. And if it does, it won't be a deduction that prevents our promotion. It may take the title awaym, but it won't push us down to the play-offs, because this would be immediately appealed by our legal team, and the appeal would prevent
    a) the play-offs,
    b) the opening of the transfer window,
    c) the production of fixtures in two divisions for the 2011-12 season,
    d) the ability of clubs to negotiate contracts.

So my feeling is that we will get a fine that doesn't look either vindictive or trivial, coupled with no meaningful points deduction.

IF and it is quite a big IF they decide we fielded an ineligible player then I'm going for C and B, the logic being the fine should reflect the original cost of the ineligible player, and the points deduction should just be for the offence of fielding an ineligible player i.e. 3 points, the fact we may have done this on multiple occasions shouldn't go against us as it was the same offence being repeated week after week and hopefully will be viewed as an administrative oversight and not QPR consciously breaking the rules on multiple occasions.

    3.5 Mill and 3 points.

Palidini - is another matter, i'm afraid i'm not a fan, i repect what he has done for the club in difficult times, but i am happy to make him the scapegoat now if it keeps the FA happy. Does this sound really bad...

Ok...perhaps I should explain something here.............

I happened to meet Gianni, in the course of my work, quite a few times about 5 years ago. He always spoke about his love for the club, and how he was doing everything in his power to find new investment, and to keep the club afloat. I actually got on very well with him and had quite a few conversations with him. At no time did I think he was feeding me a line....as there was no need to!

Anyhow, I still think that he will come out of this worse off than the club, and hopefully we CAN bid him adieu, and wish him well for the future. At least he didn't asset strip the club, and do a runner.
