Thing is though, been 6 weeks since my last cig and the vape has curbed the cravings 100%. Get a decent mod and a good tank, make your own liquids, it's a good, distracting hobby.] **** those silly E-cig pens from the petrol stations
True. I used patches for the first few weeks. Tried to reduce to the weakest but they weren't cutting it. Nicotine gum worked for me ( there were no electronic fags back then) it gave me a hit of nicotine when I was ready to kill somebody for a fag. Gradually started interspersing the nicotine gum with ordinary until I was clear. The idea of smoking doesn't even enter my head now
If you are going to stop, just stop. Don't cut down Don't vape Don't use patches. Just grow some balls and stay strong for a couple of weeks. Job done.
I'm struggling like **** now on my night shift. The reason I'm trying to just not smoke at work first is because that's where I find it hardest. Last time I was on annual leave I didn't smoke for 3/4 days before coming back on nights and smoking 6 a night again...
It's funny how you meet some people who say they were absolutely fine after a month without and others who 20 years later say they still miss it every day.
It's hard, it's really hard. What's a couple of weeks to have the rest of your life being much healthier, though? Don't give up like you are doing and once you get to a couple of weeks, you've cracked it. It's all about resisting the urges and not giving in. My first 10 days of not smoking, I had sleepless nights and worse than normal anger issues. I stuck with it and it's probably one of the best things I've ever done.
Spent all day boozing at a cricket match, 5 hours working the bottle bar this afternoon, people smoking around me, willpower still winning!
Fair play to you mate, some just have more will power than others I suppose. My biggest worry is when I have a beer n that tbh. Saying that, my sister has just done over a year and I never thought she'd give up so it can be done. Health is the reason I want to stop, the price argument is bollocks imo, but as I'm asthmatic and a Father now it does make me think. I'm on stronger inhalers than my old man who also has asthma (plus copd) and has smoked for 40 years... half of which being cigars. Does concern me a bit tbh.
Break the cycle now. Your son will have a much less chance of smoking, if you don't. Don't let him grow up thinking it's normal. You are his hero and he'll mimic you in anyway that he can. Having asthma and smoking sounds crazy to me. That's a big enough health issue you have there without knowingly adding to it. Your lad will want a fit daddy to play with who's going to be around for a very long time.
He's still young enough at the moment (3 in Sept) that if I stopped he'd probably never remember too... I know it sounds crazy to smoke with asthma but doesn't make it easier to stop. Nearly a year since I gave up smoking the skunk too so probably the time to give it a proper go. Never been great with will power though
Yeah see that sounds like a huge struggle. Interesting that you say you had cheeky smoke when pissed for a long time after giving up. Most people I know who have done that have slipped back into it.
I'm a big fan of hypnosis. Would you consider that? It doesn't work for everyone, but it has had some life changing results for some people.
Not necessarily. Me and my brother never smoked but both my parents did. Personally, I don't see the attraction.
I found swapping to Vaping soooo easy. Seriously didn't notice any difference and actually preferred it. You just need a high strength liquid for the first few weeks.
