the Slovenian performance discouraged me, the Malta was fine, we played well 2nd half against the socks, but the Spain performance was the first time I thought that he might actually do a job for us were we are not continuing to be immensely disappointed at he thoughts of England future performances. I hope he does well
He's getting less than a third of what Hodgson was on and almost half what Allardyce was on. He's also been given a four year deal, you'd think they'd just give him to the 2018 World Cup to see how he gets on.
100% behind him. Decision made, let's give him a decent chance. English manager, just as it should be.
At least he hasn't got any skeletons in the closet, that we know of yet! Liked him as a player, just not convinced on his credentials for the top job. TWT as always.
The deal may be for four years but unless the FA are stupid (!?) there should be the opportunity to break the contract.
I'm not sure he's done anything of note managerially to deserve it, but he's likeable and not a scoundrel or money grabbing Swedish playboy. I do think he has potential to build something and I hope he does.
More than happy to give him a chance. People need to realise we're not a tournament winning nation, we make the numbers up. He might steady the ship, instill some belief in the players and maybe turn us into a tournament team. Much prefer an Englishman in charge of the national team, and this ones played and knows what it means.
I had breakfast next to him at St George's Park when he was there with the U-21s Very pleasant, didn't push in the queue...so good luck to him
watch the press find a way to get rid of him. oh, wait, turns out he was born in watford. not a pikey northerner. no danger from the press. as you were.
Henry Winter @henrywinter Southgate reveals "there's no break clause" in his 4-year contract after 2018 World Cup. "Important to look at what we're doing longer term".
He's a good choice. An international manager and a club manager are two quite different jobs for 350 days in the year.
The FA @FA We're delighted to announce that our partnership with @Nike has been extended until 2030.
